They used seriously toxic hydrazine and I belive nitrogen tetroxide as a propellent. Hence the spiffy refuling suits.

Yep they transported nuclear bombs on a ratty looking trailer.
There were radio towers that were standing around the base. In the event of a nuclear explosion these would be knocked down, so they had these collapsable radio masts that they coud extend.
One of the many large springs that isolated the base from ground movement in the event of a nuclear blast. Note that virtually everything is coated in a green institutional zinc chromate paint.
This was suprising to me. They used microwave sensors. The silver thing in the middle, to detect intruders. Armed gaurds were then dispached from a nearby base to apprehend the intruders.
