|
|
Interplay, still holding the license to develop an online version of Fallout after licensing the single-player RPG type to Bethesda Softworks, has managed to reduce its debt and is now trying to accrue additional funds:Interplay Entertainment Corp. (IPLY.OB) today filed a Form 8-K with the SEC announcing the Company has engaged a Paris-based investment bank to conduct an offshore Private Placement of its common stock. The offering of newly issued shares for an amount of at least (euro)20 million and up to (euro)50 million in total will be reserved exclusively to non US based accredited investors. The money is to be used to fund a product many of us have often feared would see the light of day, Fallout Online (FOOL, for short). Herve Caen commented:Having significantly reduced our debt over the past two years, we are now in an improved position to raise capital. This private placement will be another critical step toward the funding and development of our Fallout property into a Massively Multiplayer Online Game, which represents our plan for growth in the coming years. If ever made, my money says that this bombs as badly as Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel did. Lesson to all holders of Fallout licenses; no succesful game has ever been made from the Fallout license that was not true to the original.

Ah, fuck.
I was just thinking about this when I read the topic about Interplay getting rid of the debts. I was thinking "I hope they're not gonna start with the FOOL nonsense again now".
And now there they go.
Fuck you Interplay.
Can't they ruin something else? Not that the Fallout name isn't already ruined.. but, you know, eventually you have to unclog the toilet if you want to take a crap without getting your dick in shit. Or stop crapping there... or something like that. |

| here will be a Paris-based listing sponsor to obtain listing of such shares on the Euronext European exchange. Placement is expected to close before December 31, 2006 and proceeds will be used for general corporate purpose and the funding of the development of a Massively Multiplayer Online Game based on the Company's game Fallout. |
The important bit. Though this might be a scam to get financing from some foreign suckers and then escape to the Bahamas. |

....
With that many outstanding debts? Moron. Ah well, at least that'll kill off the company for good.
By the way, Herve also suspended his own salary and his outstanding salary (a $550,000 total) at an interest rate of 5% per year until the company reaches $1million net worth, whereupon he will get back all the money.
With interest. His current salary was *dropped* to $250,000 per year.
He also got 10-year warrants to buy 6,100,000 shares at the *current* price, so if the company ever starts doing well he'll be able to buy a shitload of shares for next to nothing and make a killing.

Who the fuck cares?
Fallout 3 made by Bethesda might be a bad thing, since another company might have done a better job with it. But since you don't care about FOOL anyway, who cares who makes it or whether it gets made at all? |

Not in any way that would affect us, no.
If anything, this will be entertaining to watch. Suppose they do manage to make the game. |

Maybe if they need to raise money Herve will take my $5 and give me the source code for the FO2 engine.
I think they will try to do a rush job and piggy back on FO3 release by Beth so they dont have to pay all those pesky marketing fees. _________________

This is going to be fun to observe. I hope they do something that's actually different from other MMOs with this while staying faithful and keeping it fun. Although I doubt it.
