| Not sure if I like it or not. Not sure if it does feel like fallout or not. Don't know. Seems just too realistic and modern for Fallout. AAAAAAAH dammnit... |

I feel you.
I do like it, but ONE thing actually throws me off... to be exact, make that FOUR things.
The 4 people standing over the Super Mutant (apparently).
I'm thinking of how i could say this intellectually... but i'll just go with my heart.
They look out of place and fucking weak.
But besides that the concept art just keeps getting better and better, atleast in this one we see some of the retro-future style.
Finally, even though it's JUST concept art, they all feel very isometric, and isometric makes me happy. (along with turn-based combat). _________________

Note the 50's "Paradise Falls" sign.
Also note the heaps of googie art to the left-hand background.
The composition is pretty shitty, and there's definitely wrong with the raiders on the foreground, but they got a lot of the style right. _________________

Bit better, but still not there yet. Too much "The Postman".

Too modern? What would you change in that picture to give it a more 50's feel? The car wreck perhaps? Or the sign?

Retrofuture ? Where ?? To me, it looks like the fuckin 80's. Maybe the shape of some of the advertisings here and there but that's all. Those guys are dressed like modern soldiers. If you ask me it does not look retro and not futuristic either. It doesn't even look post-apocalyptic ! It could be fuckin Louisiana after the flood man... It just looks wrong to me. |

woah! that car wreck on the left has 4 wheels on the rear...
A Six-Wheeled car... why not?
Hmm these four Raiders pose and look like a photo is beeing taken ... who knows...
Besides they really look like modern soldiers.
This image is disturbing...

- The car's design style is obvious 50's car-of-the-future. Compare Fallout's corvega.
- The two globes, spaceship and other wreckage on the left-hand side is clear 50s googie design.
- The Paradise Falls font-style should look hella familiar, as it's the one used on half the signs in Fallout.
- Also note the right-hand side ruins. Not unfitting. _________________

| It's alright. Kinda reminds me of the Hub. The 1950's Americana stuff is all there. The drawing itself just isn't too good. Very messy. It looks like the artist didn't understand some of his reference pics and just slapped it together. Also the body right in the center is bad design. Only amateurs make that mistake. I'm thinking we're only seeing part of a much larger painting. Bethesda just cropped it that way to be stupid. |

The ball to the top-left, the crashed car, the background to the left: that's all pretty fifties.
I can't for the life of me make out what it is those raiders killed, though. _________________ No Mutants Allowed, your Fallout resource - Fallout 3 modding

Yeah it has the '50s retro future feeling but this thing lying dead looks strange, It's definetly not Super Mutant, this looks like Power Armor or some kind of Robot.
And BTW this concept doesn't look Isometric at all, it looks like FPP more.

I think they definitely got a lot of the style right in this.
I think the problem that you have with the guys in the foreground, is that it looks like they are posing for a fucking picture. I have the same issue with them. That just doesn't look right.
But the rest, I think is very good. The whole left side is caked with Googie/Art Deco signs/buildings and the sign in the foreground is nice too. _________________

Either a super mutant with the physique of a large man or a heavily armored dude with a gas mask. _________________

I think that's the intention, it's a classic pose of a group of hunters with their prey.
It makes me think of STALKER meets tactics for some reason. Maybe it's the modern clothing and real world machine gun?

The Combat Armour was nothing like modern military equipment. _________________ Old age should burn and rave at close of day;

Yeah, that's what i said.
So far none of the art has been made from a first person perspective.
Unless you want to pretend your characters in a Vertibird hovering over the wasteland. Yes, blah blah blah, it's just concept art, but it all feels so physically distant from the ground.
Feels isometric to me, now go ahead, quote me again with another emoticon, because that is definitely the best thing to do.

Damn son, i can't believe i never looked at it that way before.
You know what... now it feels great, now i love it, now it feels like it's a post card... on a loading screen for Fallout 3.
:3
Wow.
I feel good. _________________

Which didn't look anything like that.
Yeah, I don't like the picture. It's not enough to get some elements right and screw the rest.
Even with those retro elements, it still doesn't feel like Fallout. _________________ Our goal at Black Isle was to take the Planescape license and make a role-playing game that was both fun and different from anything else on the market. We strove to avoid the mainstays of such games, dwarves, elves, evil wizards, and kidnapped princesses, replacing them with talking items, unusual allies, and enemies that you had never before seen.
(...)
We wanted a powerful story, and we didn't want to be afraid of it being too deep for mass market; we just wanted to make it good.
We sought to take the role-playing genre in a different direction from most RPGs on the market; building a truly interactive environment for the gamer, where what you believed actually had an impact on the game.
