This little beauty just popped up (thanks Dupa):Finnish magazines get all the love. Well, at least when it comes to recent press on Fallout 3. Finnish magazine Pelaaja grabbed a few scans of the game in progress and we must say, it seems to be coming in line nicely, following details already laid out by Bethesda. These scans look great, even if they are a little blurry (likely due to the fact they are scans and not pure screen shots of the game in progress) The scans? EDIT: As Galvan points out, Pelaaja must have acquired those images independently, though we are mystified why are they being referred to as "scans" and why Pelaaja is allowed to publish pictures while GI's exclusivity deal is still in effect.
Also, the scans are still available on most sites linked to by NMA user cookiemonster after NMA removed them, 10 days ago. Sites such as Kotaku, N4G, G4, Czech Tiscali and French Playlipse. Confusion sets in as our staff is hard at work figuring out why copyright infringement laws apply only to the non-profit NMA, rather than to commercial outlets. _________________

"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year-old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.
The other, of course, involves orcs." --John Rogers

That is a very good question. I'd say it's Bethsoft starting to blacklist us, but it's not even Bethesda; it's Game Informer. Which leaves me wondering why, unless they just are incompetent enough to have missed the scans on other sites yet by some miracle discovered them on NMA.

ehm ---
I would say that the laws only apply to NMA because of its critical questioning of the screenshots as well as the content of the article.
Other sites have been (more) positive about this whole Fallout 3 business/deal than NMA have.
That would be my guess, anyway...
It is just a move by Bethesda, I think... |

Which would indeed be a naughty action if not for the fact it simply ain't true.
See how the shots are framed differently? And elements that are obscured in Game Informer can be seen here? Not to mention the lack of comment boxes.
Bethsoft has a collection of press screenshots that it sends out to magazines. GI had the exclusive and thus was first but not the only. Voila, mystery solved.
EDIT:
Changed the size of the pic, bigger version here. |

| To me it sounds pretty weird that Bethy would allow Finnish magazine to post those pics. Considering that Finland hardly is even fraction of their sales. Oh well, I don't mind. |

I put it on my blog yesterday Jesterka, it's excellent.
Galvan there's an embargo on that material until tomorrow, how did the Finish mag got away with posting the pics? _________________ PlanetFallout

But the question of why NMA was given special negative treatment among fan and news sites remains. _________________

Because they're scared of NMA's negative press? I mean, anyone googling for Fallout 3 will be given these choices:
1. Offical Site with nothing in it
2. Official Teaser
3. Wikipedia Article
4. NMA
I changed the wikipedia article to state that Fallout 3 was a FPS instead of a RPG. Oh, how I make myself chuckle sometimes. I have a feeling it'll be changed within the hour. _________________

What really burns me is that companies can categorize their games into any genre they want, but because it has a few features exhibited from a certain genre.
Fallout 3 STINKS of FPS. Twitch gameplay will be more than intact, since you are allowed to fire or strafe even after you run out of AP. No One Lives Forever 2 had an experience and stats system, but the company that developed that game didn't try to hide that it was an FPS by giving you multiple solutions to missions. They called it a FPS.
Fuck Bethesda. Everyday I get more disgusted, and I don't even go to the "Official" Fallout 3 forums anymore.
I never even cared about FO:T or FO:BOS being released. While I was disappointed it wasn't a sequel, I lived with it since they didn't try to present them as sequels. Calling Bethesda's version of Fallout "Fallout 3" is ridiculous. Too bad companies can get away with lying up and down in media as long as you have the money to back it up.
Ah, but all I'm doing is preaching to the choir. _________________

Hmm.. Wouldn't exactly call that trolling, since the article is false in it's reference anyhow (The reference points to NMA, I guess at the once existent scan of the GI article.) Wikipedia stated that the game was a role-playing game, although the GI article stated it was an Action RPG.
I'll let you give me your warning, however. I promise I won't change the wikipedia site anymore, Dad. _________________
