Lisac2k strikes again, with a spiritual sequel to Beth the old hag, the Vault Rats mod:This is a small mod cosisting of one map, 9 NPCs, 3 main quests and bunch of references to... Well, to many issues (check out the List of Features for
more info). The idea came from the numerous previews of Fallout 3, which is currently in production, that struck the Fallout Fans who were eagerly waiting for the worthy sequel of their favourite game franchise for more than 10 years.
On the other hand, the mod has been made as a "from modders for modders" project, which should provide better overview in what way the Fallout 2 game can be modded and how a new, small mod can be released in just a few weeks (it took me less than two weeks to make this one). The script sources have been included, though I hadn't enough time to optimise them, so there's probably parts which are hard to understand. Nonetheless, I hope some of this mod's features will find their way into other mods, or at least sparkle a few of new ideas.

Actually, not much.
Wish I had a copy of Fallout 2 here to give this a spin. Sadly, I don't |

Go break in a gamestore or something. Just counted ~530 dialogue lines you'd love to read... Never mind, look, here come the others!
EDIT: and a few features, just to tickle your imagination:
1 new map
9 new NPCs
3 new quests
12 different endings (!)
Dumb character path
Bunch of references to Fallout games
Skills affect the dialogues/quest solutions
Many of the items on the map will be randomly spawned (replayability)
Barrels (!) which are burning during the night, providing some light, they're off during the day of course
1 new weapon (!)
... and much more! _________________ Vault Rats Moments v1.02

Thanks. You're one of the first who played it, tell me something then... Did you listen the chatter between Erik and Gavin? _________________ Vault Rats Moments v1.02

The guys by the well? Not too much, but I'm going to do a couple of playthroughs, as I missed one quest and some other stuff.
I did pay attention to the floating text of the guards, though.
Gotta love that wall, too. _________________

Thanks once again. I really tried hard to make something worth enough taking the Fallout2 CD out of the case again. And, of course, there's always those people giving me ideas...
Say, what's your favourite part? I'd really love to hear that from people who have played it through. _________________ Vault Rats Moments v1.02

Running into the wall made me lol, so I'd say that was my favorite.
It was really a nice mod, tons of little touches everywhere.
I liked the ticketbot, too, but I haven't gotten past it yet. _________________

The of name the in killing (or in reverse?) really got me (no more so as not to give it away) The wall was really nice, classic. The dead guy by the spawn point's description... I almost died laughing, and sadly can relate
EDIT: gave it a well deserved 10 _________________

Want my extra copy? I have no use for it. _________________ "When it comes to Fallout fans, ignorance, stupidity and arrogance is bad combination, because this is a community that has all of those. Hehe... I see "the wall" joke has been accepted well, glad to hear that. Did anyone notice the couch by the toilet?
I'll have to make a list of all details soon, there's really bunch of those. Some of you probably would like to see them all.
Retro: install the game, patch it with official 1.02 patch and unpack the mod into Fallout2 directory.
Zioburosky13: you don't need killaps patch for this, it's a small total conversion mod. It has nothing to do with the original game and all you need is the updated fallout2.exe (to v1.02), thus rendering all other patches obsolete. _________________ Vault Rats Moments v1.02

This might be related to the fact that it's still morning, that I only got 5 hours of sleep and already had to drive to the airport (with a huge traffic jam and lots of ignorant and aggressive drivers), but I can't pass the first location.
I tried several characters and always after talking to the Elder the game ended. I got three endings based on my answers, but the game ended either way.
Also when I created a dumb character, the only option to answer war "err..?" which ends the dialog.
And I found no way to exit the location (south blocked with a table, north entrance to the temple doesn't let me enter).
What is the problem?
Otherwise I tried it on a normal 1.02D US version (official patch). _________________ "There are two types of people - those who are radioactive and those who have already decayed." |

The problem is that you're playing Beth, the old hag mod. Now go to download section and get the Vault Rats. _________________ Vault Rats Moments v1.02

ha. played it through and had a many good belly-fulls of laughs !
i loved the way you could solve all the quests in a couple of different ways, and the 'toilet humor' was cool.
i missed some things though, so i'll have to go on a re-play too
cheers ! |
