I started Lonesome Road a while ago. Here's some things I need to talk about.

    Entering.
There's no opening slideshow. It gave me the impression that yu're supposed to know everything already. I liked that.

    ED-E
I wasn't expecting him. I'm sooo happy that he's with me. He's my first companion from the main game. The backstory you get really opens up ED-E as a character. It also gives the Fallout 3 Enclave a little character, as well. I also like that the upgrades I've gotten so far are more practical than weapon upgrades.
You might be confused by his precense at first. I know I was, but I still squeed when it said "Talk to ED-E." I can't wait to learn more.

    Weapons and Armor
I've just gotten the Red Glare. It uses a new ammo type, rockets, instead of missiles. It's kind of weird seeing an automatic rocket launcher.
The H&H Nail Gun had me the moment I saw it. It fires nails that you find in tool boxes. It just seems like a perfect fit for Fallout.

Anyway, I've gotta go. I'll add more later.

What I was tremendously disappointed with was the fact that there are no side quests and that the main quest can be burned through in three hours.

Of course there is one side quest that you can complete on your way through the divide (ED-E's side quest)

ED-E (Copy)- Alot of the speculation on ED-E came to fruition. I'll leave it at that. (Also his upgrades carry over into the Mojave Wasteland)

    Weapons:
A shoulder mounted 10 mike mike Chain Cannon- This is without a doubt the COOLEST freaking weapon in the entire DLC. This thing tears through the Marked men like a hot knife through butter. Added with the fact it's upgradable and it's awesome. (wg 17lbs fully modified)

Satchel Charges - the frag mine's big brother, this thing is craftable at the work bench and this thing is so beyond deadly it's not funny be careful and watch where you step in the divide.

Flare Gun - uses Flamer fuel and VERY helpful when playing on Harder difficulties. One of the added benefits is the fact that it scares away abominations.

Flash Bang Grenades - nearly essential when facing certain foes.

    Armor:

(Elite, Advanced, Standard) Riot Gear- Essential Desert Ranger Armor but has way better effects and protection.

    Hints:

Watch out for Deathclaws! There's one particularly nasty one in a cave I wandered into.

Ullysses - what the f--- is wrong with his damn eyes?
[spoiler:988d4eef9a]He speaks in riddles and it's so hard to figure out what he's talking about. It's no wonder he was a Frumentarri (sp?) and I was by no means surprised when he vaguely admits to it. I was so confused that at the highlight of the final battle I was left with a "What the F---?" expression on my face. I never understood his motivation. At first I thought he didn't want to kill me but then he says that he wants to destroy the Bear and let the Bull go free but then you can talk him into joining your side and joins you as a temporary companion but in the end you were always alone...just you and your Ralphie.[/spoiler:988d4eef9a]

I haven't played it yet, but I don't really mind spoilers.

So was there any mention of Victor or were all my theories about him false?

There was no mention of Victor. The only robot that played any significance in the story was ED-E. And according to what Ullysses says he isn't from Goodsprings but a tribe back east. (Not the Kahns.)

One thing I found most enjoyable about the plot is that while the courier is traveling the divide if you have a keen eye and attention to detail you can see that Ulysses follows you the entire time. I was blown away when I first saw him way off in the distance.

Also- pay attention to the Old World Symbols they play importance in finding loot. Although I'm not entirely sure what the colors actually mean I did find Notebooks and read able material at White flags. And Red ussually meant hostiles. Blue meant safe house.

Damn it! Everything pointed to Victor playing a part, now Victor's story makes no sense.

Who the hell was Victor's owner before House, why does he have an old world flag hanging on his shack, what was Victor doing in Goodsprings for all those years? Damn loose ends.

Edit: Semi-unrelated question: Did Wolfhorn ranch play a part in the DLC at all or was it mentioned?

Well it wouldn't be the first time that the courier was carrying something that while it didn't look like much, was in fact pretty damn dangerous (Platinum Chip much?)

    Seriously, look at his eyes!

[spoiler:d3844a2813]You'd think after accidentally setting off several nuclear weapons the Courier would realize he wasn't really cut out for the delivering packages business.[/spoiler:d3844a2813]

Edit: So how does the platinum chip play into this? Why did Ulysses want the Courier to deliver it?

Well, even though they never say it, I think that the platinum chip was going to be his last delivery in more ways then one.

There's no new Traits for this DLC but some new interesting Perks.

    Here's a few that I chose:

Walker Instinct- +1 PER/ +1 AGL while outside

Alertness - +2 PER while crouching

Burden to Bear - +50lbs carrying capacity (Stacks with strong back)

Well...I'm gonna go mod The Divide and make it how it should have been. More Content. More quests.

Finished Lonesome Road a couple hours ago. That is easily the hardest dlc out of them all. After I beat it I left with more questions then when i entered because the way Ulysses describes stuff is all indirect so you have to make assumptions. Those marked men were heavily armed (well i did go in at 43...)
[spoiler:6ccba9ffa0] And the deathclaws at the divide must level with you because in one hit i lost just about 3/4 of my health (and i might have forgot about the flare gun i was carrying until my 3 death)[/spoiler:6ccba9ffa0]

ED-E's story was pretty deep and i like the reference to the trailer of New Vegas.

The dlc is ALRIGHT but it seems it could have been better. Not a whole lot of explanations but more combat involved. Weapons were downright kick-ass imo. Riot armors are very cool looking.

[spoiler:6ccba9ffa0]And if you bomb ncr, there's that awesome Sierra Armory Power Armor, at least i think that's what it's called. [/spoiler:6ccba9ffa0]

My first act of modding the divide is to add a outpost at the front gate, where you can go left up the drain tube or right into the Hopeville Silo.

I'm going to use some FO3 assets and make a small settlement with like a dad, a kid, a dog and an old man and call that Hopeville.

Hell I might even see if I can find audio files to use for a voice over to make these people seem less...insignificant.

    Stats only.

The ED-E (Copy) is the stock setting where as ED-E (Mojave) is the repaired version.

Are they glowing? They didn't look like that to me.

Anyway, I'm somewhat underwhelmed. It's a very guided experience, but it's a fairly meaty DLC, and it's certainly not bad, but it could have done a lot more. That missile and the creation of Courier's Mile are supposed to put a sense of guilt/responsibility into me? Why? I'm not making these choices, the game's not giving me any options.

Ulysses' ramblings are so confused and pointless, I don't know what they were trying to accomplish there. Is he supposed to convince me of something? Ridiculous. His complaints about the NCR have no actual evidence in the game, and we know nothing of this mythical society he's preaching about.

It also lacks tie-ins. Platinum Chip and Ulysses reacting to seeing your name? Never explained in any depth. Ulysses' farmstead? Well I can understand they skip that. You never get to discuss his travels with him much.

ED-E's story arc is, ironically enough, much more interesting than that of the Couriers, which the DLC is purportedly about.

The atmosphere of the whole thing blew my mind tho'. Brilliantly done.

The DLC isn't particularly hard at level 45, assuming you're well-equipped/built up. Didn't even wear power armor, I just wore the riot gear all the way, it's awesome. It is very dense though, reminds me of Dead Money, not as much wasted space/time as the other two, very much a thrill-ride, including a cliche
[spoiler:e6462e6256]elevator-ride as creatures attack you. How FPS[/spoiler:e6462e6256]

Huh? Doesn't Victor just work for Mr House? I didn't realize this was a mystery.
