Alright, let's get this party started. It's the 20th Anniversary of Fallout 1, so we need to honour the Grand Mack Daddy of postapocalyptic roleplaying by doing a proper retrospective on it.
The first question of course is: When?
I added a poll, voting will be open until 15th of April.

I don't mind, but I want to be part of this, I have a great deal to say in terms of Fallout 1.

... Is this going to be a podcast or a video or... What's going on with that?

Well the title of the thread is "NMA Podcast Extravaganza Returns: Fallout 1 Retrospective" so I assume it will be a podcast.

    NMA needs frequent podcasts again.

I really should be actually finishing it, huh?

On dates, whatever really. Shouldn't take me long to finish it, and so you get a slightly frseher perspective on it.

Fuck... I can't participate then. I could write an article on fo2 or something, I guess. Going over what it did right as a sequel and what it did wrong. But that'd have to be after graduation before I start on it...

Articles and videos are also welcome. This is just to get the podcast rolling again.
I think for the retrospective we could talk about the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Really dissect the game for all the things it did right and wrong, and then go on and take a look at its impact.
Maybe those participating in the podcast could all do some research about a specific topic beforehand and then talk about that in the podcast?

Hey, at least you played it.
In one of the first podcasts it turned out that I was the only one who actually started with Fallout 1, everyone else came to the series via Fallout 3 or New Vegas.

I've played it twice now, once with FIXT and the other time without it.

Needless to say, the final product doesn't feel complete without Mods. But is still a great experience.

It's up to you, FIXT adds in more stuff (like endings and such) so I do highly recommend it.

I started with 1 in anticipation for 3 less than year before FO3 came out. Dind't get the deal behind the timer for the 1st time.
Same but didn't feel it added much to the game.

I'd like to find a corner in podcast but has alot of spite to spew about sequels. Does this work?

Could also write an article or two regarding post-apoc titles or Fallout TCs.

Hey Hass, everyone. My apologies for being silent for so long. Took some time to finish a personal project and get back in touch with my editor for it.

(From the votes so far, the sixth of May would likely work for me, though I'm consistently being scheduled from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. CST on Saturdays, so odds are no one else can cover that shift.)

The Teamspeak server I set up for us is still active, so that we can use. Once a date is set, I'll run a marathon test with the software to see how long it records before stopping. Once I know that, or what causes the recordings to stop, we can better time the switches between users.

    Looking forward to this one.

Eeey, you're back! Was startin' to miss cha.

One of the things we should do in preparation would be comparing Discord and TS3 in a drill.
Another to take account for would be to think of a Plan B if they end up not accepting or have an inconvenience at the last moment, yes?

I had no idea Discord did audio recording. (I'm using it for the Project Brutality 3.0 beta test right now.)

I think Discord might be more convenient. It can record, seems pretty stable and fast, and you can do very convenient invites and closed rooms and so on. And nobody needs to install a program, you just send an invite and the person can start the app in their browser.
We should do a test run, though, see how it works out and compare it to TS3.

There's one problem, however. Discord can't chew lots of people in one talk, so 8+ sits around and there'll be some noticeable hitches and audio losses.

Hm, ok. So far the amount of people in the podcasts was lower than that, though, so it might still work. We just need to do a test run.

Discord works better for me too, if only because my Mic decided to break recently and I have discord on my phone.
