    EDIT: Teaser Trailer!

Haven´t had too much time to post on the forums´ humor section lately, but I am taking the time to give you some really serious news (with pics!). The company I work at put out their press release today announcing our game NO TRUCE WITH THE FURIES.

I present to you the freshest promotional art and in-game screenshots!

(click on the pictures for the juicy 2560 pixels in width. ouch!)

Now let me put on my suit and tie, because I give you the...

    PRESS RELEASE:

Today FORTRESS OCCIDENT announce NO TRUCE WITH THE FURIES, a story-driven role playing game about being a total failure. An almost irreversible, unmitigated failure. Both as a human being and an officer of the law.

Find yourself in a strange and familiar new world, where you can go anywhere you want to. See that liquor store? You can go there. See that motor-carriage? You can drive it into the ocean. See that phone booth? You can call her, and make her love you again!

Or – you can take one final case and crawl back to life.

NO TRUCE WITH THE FURIES has:

    • An original genre of setting, developed for 15 years in absolute secret. Neither fantasy, alternate history, or any known type of -punk, a novel set in the same world has been dubbed fantastic realism.

    • The most advanced visuals ever made for the isometric perspective. A trick of the trade we call paintshading lets us create a moving contemporary oil painting.

    • Writing by chronically success-impaired science fiction author Robert Kurvitz and original music by the Mercury prize winning band British Sea Power.

    • A realistic skill system lets you develop original ideas using Conceptual Thinking, tune your nervous system with Electrochemistry, and become a disgrace to the uniform with Composure, a skill that lets you don your disco outfit to the maximum effect.

    • Thought Cabinet, an inventory for thoughts, where you process the ideas you've stumbled on. Ideas become fixtures, permanent beliefs that you can't get rid of, even if you want to.

    • Exactly one hundred and twenty eight times more choice and consequence than previously thought possible in a role playing video game. This is a world where even the smallest things you say matter.

We are inspired by "Planescape: Torment", "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" and "Kentucky Route Zero".

NO TRUCE WITH THE FURIES has been in development for over a year. It's expected by the end of 2016 for PC.

This is so sudden, and in NMA too! No words in the Codex about this, so it was such a pleasant surprise. Any words on trailers and gameplay footage?

    Anyway, looks neat.

This name sounds incredibly badass in Slovak.
Also, can't see anything about combat system. Care to share some details?
    Stunning visuals!

Wow, the visuals and artstyle look a little too good to be true, especially since it's only been in development for a year. Then again, New Vegas only got around a year of development and it's in my top 5 favorite games. I'll reserve any judgement until there's a gameplay trailer.

Okay, this part definitely sounds too good to be true. Have you worked on any games before this one? Does your company of sorts have any past titles that might show you could pull something like this off?

This game is infinitely less interesting when you realize it isn't about forming an anti-furry death squad.

    All in good time :)
Furies, furries, poe-tay-toh, poe-tah-toh. Yeah, we´ve heard that before. And IJF, don´t you worry. I´m sure that in time No Truce´s following will rival that of Fallout: Equestria
No Truce With The Furies will be Fortress Occident´s first video game.
...and he will never let us forget that.
Thanks! Well, as you can see from one of the screenshots - violence is definitely an option. We´ll delve into that at a later time in our development blog.

Obviously the first thing to catch my eye too.

A furrycide/fursection game wouldn't be too bad either.

Very interesting project ! I'll keep an ear for any update or information...
From what I've read on the website : "NO TRUCE WITH THE FURIES is a story-driven isometric role playing game about being a total failure." quite an original approach !
By any chance, can you tell us if the game will be self-distributed via your own platform, or by Steam, GOG etc. ?

We´re considering all of the above and some others, although nothing is set in stone yet.

Also, our designer wrote up some answers to frequently asked questions directed at our press release material. It was published on our dev blog, but I´ll save you the hassle of clicking back and forth between sites by posting it here as well:

After our press release, I’m hearing questions – and I want to answer them.

    1) Is this a joke?
No. This is a real game. We’re making it.

    2) Those screenshots are not real.
It’s a pretty game, yes. We are proud of how it looks. The shots have not been “treated”, however, we’ll share a video in due time.

    3) So when are you going on Kickstarter?
As of now, there is no plan to go on Kickstarter. It’ll be out somewhere around the end of 2016. Delays are delays, if they happen they happen. We won’t beat ourselves up about it.

    4) What about combat? Does it have combat?
NO TRUCE WITH THE FURIES has violent confrontations at set-piece moments. These are handled within the dialogue system. You can call it heavily scripted turn based combat, if you want to.

There is no real time with pause or traditional turn based combat in the game. We still have hit rolls. We have armour, lives, weapons etc. And you can die. But the action sequences are literature heavy showdowns. You can also lose these showdowns (given that you didn’t die) and the game registers it. You’re free to limp out of there and try a different approach.

    5) It’s a choose your own adventure then!
It’s a role playing game. We have 24 skills under 4 stats. You can develop minute character traits and carry them from conversation to conversation. There is a large degree of freedom in the order you approach the world.

In the parts of the game that are finished, we really believe we have achieved an incredible degree of cause and effect.

    6) How long is it?
The degree of cause and effect we are aiming means NO TRUCE is in many ways, the opposite of an “epic” RPG. We thought a compact and very personal story would be the best way to introduce ourselves.

The area you can traverse is a short stretch of urban shoreline, a piece of industrial harbour, a litte shacktown, the interior landscape of your alcohol-mangled psyche… and bits I’d rather not spoil now.

It is hard to estimate playtime, but if you were to hold a gun to my head, I’d say… three or four days.

I'm wondering how it can be that "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" could possibly be an inspiration. The game isn't a multiplayer shooter so obviously doesn't have much in common in terms of gameplay. I thought perhaps setting but I looked it up and that game mainly takes place in outer space.... So, is this a joke or am I missing something? (never played Call of Duty)

Neither have I. Played CoD that is. As inspirations go, Planescape: Torment has great writing, Kentucky Route Zero is very "Art" and CoD:IW (for a game not yet released) is really talked about, a lot. (Come to think of it the trailer has got lots of hate as well...)

Ah, so you are inspired to have NTWTF become as popular as CoD? That sounds more like pure fantasy than "fantastic realism". :)

But the game sounds up my alley, so I wish you the best of luck.
