I think the thing that annoys me about the situation with Obsidian, is that everyone seems to give Bethesda a complete pass on the exact same issues. I found Fallout 3 to be more buggy than New Vegas, and yet everyone that reviews games acts like it was perfect.
The point is that they are different games. It's not about "bashing" Fallout. People who expected this game to just be a clone of Fallout are going to be disappointed.
Personally I'm not about to sit here and pretend that I have some philosophical reason to favor one dialogue system...
Think of it as a type of anthology.
This is the same concept John Carpenter had for the Halloween franchise. Unfortunately he also found at that some people are too stubborn to accept the concept.
Wasteland 2 was a no-brainer. I'll have to see more details about their plans for this before I put down any cash. I'm still not sure how I feel about it not being a Planescape game. That's where all the lore for Torment was drawn from.
Right now Fargo is feeling a bit like John Carpenter after he attempted to turn the Halloween franchise into an anthology series, with Part 3.
Personally I think it sounds like a good plan. Of course I'm also one of the mutant freaks that thought Halloween 3 was better than every other...
We know that many (most) of the Fallout 3 developers did not play Fallout our Fallout 2 prior to making the 3rd. It's really not a stretch to assume they didn't play New Vegas, either.
I like everything I'm hearing.
The only negative reaction I had was about stealing, but I gave it some thought, and in a party based game with 7 other rangers it does seem completely out of place. Someone in this thread also mentioned the fact that stealing mechanics can be highly abused...
I think it's a great idea, and I think some around here vastly underestimate the amount of time you can sink in to having people building props for a game of this size.
Does someone really need to read all the design docs, and have a sit down with Fargo and the W2 team to make a "broken...
