Well, if Interplay had still owned their franchise, they may have been able to successfully kickstart a large enough project to crap out a god-awful abortion of a sequel. My gut tells me their crowdfounding campaign in that timeline would have been much more successful than their MMOG-campaign...

I don't think a Fallout license in the hands of Interplay's current incarnation would be in any better shape.

I had this game on Xbox and really enjoyed it. I recommend it.

I remember this sequence of events a bit differently than you do. In order to preserve their rights to make the MMORPG based upon Fallout, Interplay had to meet certain financing thresholds by a deadline. They didn't and so it was Interplay who did not fulfill the terms of the agreement...
