Looks great. But I have concerns about the quality of the writing, particularly the descriptive text. It frequently read as, well, bad writing - grammatical mistakes ('like' instead of 'as if' is a pet hate) and, well, just bad writing. Kind of like those german RPGs that get badly translated...

I always remembered infinity-engine combat as being heavily criticised for not being turn based. Don't really recall anyone around here and Codex particularly liking it in the games.

This is painful, and wrong. It's not even for a game. It's for a prototype to 'prove to our managers' that the game is worthwhile. There's not even a target (I think?) - they're just taking money as and when it comes in.

Nice article, with which I agree, so far as indie devs go. My problem is when people like Molyneux or David Braben pop up asking for people's money (with half-hearted kickstarter pitches - in Braben's case, he didn't even have a video at the start). As, unless I've missed something, those guys...

Don't see how that is a moral dilemma? It's pretty clear-cut what is 'right' and what is 'wrong'. If it had been something like, rescuing the wife and pissing off the Servants meant they would kill some other innocents for some reason, or invade a village... then it becomes a moral dilemma.

Posted this on neogaf: Don't get me wrong, I backed without even reading the Kickstarter - it's Obsidian making a game they want to make, so i have faith. I just think they firstly need to say what makes the setting appealing to them - why have they chosen, so far, generic-sounding...

Hope he recovers. Hate the fact that he needs to fundraise to receive important medical treatment.

This looks good. But it's EA and I think it's dancing with the devil. I just can't see what's in this for EA at the moment - 'good will' PR does not have enough value to that company. I just wonder if, for instance, they're hoping to capitalise on the Wasteland name somehow, FOBOS style, if W2...

Fair enough. I don't know the detail of the way the IP is licensed. I assumed BF just owned Wasteland and everything associated with it in the same way Bethesda owns Fallout. It's just that EA or Iplay can sell the earlier games.

Thinking about it, of course it would have been distributed on Origin. I think what tastes nasty is the way EA is using Wasteland 2 (with BF's consent) to give itself positive PR. And the way in the press release, BF is praising EA in a way that seems to really contradict the tone of his...

Don't like this. A deal with the devil. Yeah, in the short term it looks good, but EA surely epitomizes those shitty big publishers Fargo slated so much to his advantage in the Kickstarter campaign. Seeing him take a step into bed with them now he's got my money looks really wrong and whatever...

Mirror's Edge was really cool, when you weren't fighting people. It had a jet set radio vibe, which I love. And having a strong female protagonist whose defining feature isn't how shapely she is will always net points for me.
