What do you mean by "complicated"? I can check it and probably simplify. Speed - it should be OK in Europe (the server is on a relatively free 100 mbps line), but I'm not sure about other continents (US should be usable, the rest is probably slow). Could you please try downloading this...

Did you ever try to create your own engine? Now you have two problems - developing the game and the engine. Plus a lot of ingame art to recreate and no post-apo 256 colors atmosphere.
