The game won't run at all in 16 bit unless I remove ddraw but if I do that half of the screen stays solid black instead of having the color/refresh problem. I can run the game just fine without the hi res patch but I'm certain there's got to be a way to run it with hi res and avoid both...

I don't have sfall, not sure what that is. And if I wanted to run the game in its original resolution, why on Earth why I download the hi res patch?
