well, i've tried microsoft virtual pc, and the emulated graphic adapter is useless.. so, will it really work? what adapter is VmWare using? (and sorry for the doublepost, i'll edit next time)

well, it MUST be a 64-bit problem, because the x64 XP no longer emulates 16-bit programs.. :/

ok, so i've chosen the humongous installation, then installed the game. with or without the patch, it is still the same. any compatibility mode was useless, every option does the same - the game won't run. hardware acceleration is the same thing - at any point the game still refuses to start...
