The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake/Remaster.

Now that person needs to do it for what Oblivion removed from Morrowind, because the list is probably longer.

And i read a motherfucker in that thread saying Morrowind needs quest markers in a remake because "muh modern audience". Fuck you, people sucking Oblivion's dick for seemingly being so much deeper than Skyrim, but then they want Bethesda to dumb down Morrowind in a remake.
As Mr Fish said, g*mers (derogatory).
And then what Morrowind removed from Daggerfall.
There's really no other game like Daggerfall, it's a unicorn - unique.

I can understand to a point why Morrowind had to scale down and remove some stuff (even though i'm sure some of it could have stayed) from Daggerfall, it's clear they wanted to do a more condensed experience. Oblivion on the other hand is just a dumb RPG, most of the depth and complexity Morrowind had was just gutted because Bethesda wanted to make more money.

True, a lot in Daggerfall was excessive and made it too easy to break: spellsword characters are ridiculously op.
But I do miss levitating on my galloping horse across huge cities stretching.

I've said before I love Morrowind, but I'm also glad that Oblivion streamlined a lot of it because... yeah... those mechanics are pretty archaic.
It was a specific game for a specific audience at a specific period of time. If you give someone who Morrowind and say to them "Hey, this game is great, but it doesn't get great till you're 10 hours in" then they would tell you to fuck off.

The journey is part of what I like about Morrowind, the customisation is great. But it's homework. And when I play a game, I honestly want something fun.

there is the wayward realms in development but it honestly has massive scam vibes.

ehhh theres a cross generational team that make near yearly vanilla quality expansions for morrowind. it 100% has an audience its just thats it audience isnt literally anyone that can pick up a controller so its looked down on by publishers and "the modern audience".

thats bullshit theres so many beloved games that take hours to get going (literally any JRPG) but even ignoring that morrowind gets going exactly as fast as you want it to.

What a load of horseshit. There was nothing "archaic" with any of the mechanics in Morrowind. Most of the time when i read someone saying something is "archaic" it just means people that don't want to put the fucking bare minimum to learn the mechanic, specially when the mechanic isn't that complicated to begin with.

Also, who the fuck said Morrowind only gets great 10 hours in? Only dumbasses say that.

And last, Oblivion didn't streamlined Morrowind, it stripped all depth from the franchise. There's a giant difference between making obtuse mechanics better designed and dumbing down your game so hard that a braindead mongloid can beat it.

And when I play a game, I honestly want something fun.
And all the fun in the franchise is gone with Oblivion.

even ignoring mechanics its important to note that oblivion basically set in stone bethesdas low standards of quality for worldbuilding and writing. like dont get me wrond morrowind had some pretty badly written spots in it but they were just spots not the majority of the game. it really is ground zero for all of the incomprehensible slop that bethesda is so known for now.

I'll admit that some Morrowind mechanics could have been better, but Oblivion just gutted them instead of actually improving upon it.

Not to mention the magic system, which is one of the best things about Morrowind, just got completely destroyed and replaced with one of the lamest magic systems in any RPG. Faction system got annihilated, actual consequences for joining opposing factions completely removed, you can join the Dark Brotherhood while being in the Fighter's Guild. Weapon types removed, damage types removed, Axes being a blunt weapon when it's something used to hack things.

Instead we got dumbass quest markers in a game about exploration. All quest markers do is make people look at the arrow instead of actually learning the layout of the world and memorizing it. Instant fast travel when Morrowind had the great in-universe fast travel. Copy and pasted dungeons with repeated layouts. Writing much worse than Morrowind and Morrowind's writing wasn't exactly Shakespeare.

Absolutely nothing Oblivion did to "streamline" was justified. Specially when Morrowind was the success that brought Bethesda out of bankruptcy, meaning there was already a big audience they could sell their game to. Some people act like Morrowind didn't sell, it sold more than 4 million copies by 2005.

I still would like to know what new features does this remake have, graphics aside.
Small improvements to gameplay (you can dodge now). Major upgrade in animations vs Oblivion. The sprint animation annoys me though. Theres also added quests, but I don't know if that's just the $60 version. I just got the cheapest version.

According to Steam discussions they "race swapped" an altmer npc for a dunmer so that's funny.

From what I've seen of the dev streams Skyblivion will be significantly better. Like not even close.

The only complaint I have against Morrowind is its writings. All of it.

But otherwise MW is great. nothing else I would complain about it. The hiking mechanism I like, and the Mark Recall spells/mechanism also is just precursor to Fast travel, so nothing to criticize it for.

Its gameplay has a lot of loopholes to exploit, like alchemy buffs, spell buffs, or even the silly minor major thing to levelup but isnt that a Bethesda specialty. if there's a beth game with minimal exploit you better tell me cause that's news.

The recall spell is a must in Daggerfall, it’s called anchor and it really is the only practical way of leaving the maze-like dungeons.

Morrowind's writing strength came from the worldbuilding and setting up the tone, not so much how well written the characters and the quests are. Oblivion on the other hand has garbage worldbuilding on top of a lot bad writing in quests and in the story.
