I heard it wasn't as good. What are your thoughts on it when compared to the first one?

Dude, Hotline Miami 2 blows the first one out of the water. But in a different way. If you go into it and expect a very vague and cryptic storyline from the mind of a psychopath too far gone to differentiate between reality and fetishized fantasy then you're going to have a bad time.

HLM2 is far more difficult, it has far better gameplay controls, it has a longer story that takes place from several people's point of views that form a larger story as a whole. And it has WAY better music.
