Strange. When my friend plays Fallout 4, I can see that some options are greyed out, and I recall a few being dark‐yellow. Maybe he was playing with modifications? :-?

    General Discussion Thread of DOOM

(Nasty post.) I think that Coca‐Cola might be irritating my stomach and giving me diarrhœa. It’s strange because I don’t recall having this problem before. Drinking water, carbonated and otherwise, gives me no problems, but my body has decided to reject Coke. Maybe it’s a defence mechanism...

Can I please play a proper Fallout sequel instead of another Elder Scrolls reskin?

It all comes tumbling down, tumbling down.

I’m guessing that you disliked Borderlands because of personal taste, rather than flaws with the game per se. Is this correct?

It all comes tumbling down, tumbling down.

Is it at least a fun shooter, like Doom? :look:

It all comes tumbling down, tumbling down.

Ugh, Youtubers. Their zombie armies can devastate anything good. (In fairness, I’m guessing that Company of Heroes 2 probably paints a flowery picture of the American military, but the Red Army’s misbehaviour shouldn’t be ignored either.) The way I see it, the only reason why we’re still...

Those Black Ops 3 scores… Now I’m awfully curious as to why it’s so hated. I mean, I can comprehend why old school gamers despise the series, but I was not expecting it to have such low scores on Metacritic. (Un)fortunately, my friend has it, so maybe I can find out today.

    General Discussion Thread of DOOM

I woke up this morning with a congested throat, like I was sick again, but my nostrils aren’t any worse than usual. I’m guessing that I’m becoming ill due to indirect contact, possibly with my niece. My head hurts, too. When I first signed up here, I was having diarrhea almost constantly. My...

Teach me the secrets of English grammar!

Spanish and especially Portuguese used to use double consonants more frequently, back when their orthographies were more similar to that of French. Most of them were deleted simply because they were inutile… ll in particular could be pronounced /l/ or /ʎ/. This doubtless lead to some confusion...

    Bethesda's Lore Recons

I’m assuming that level‐scaling is back, considering that my friend found a raider with power armour and he’s level 38. Fallout 2 only had level‐scaling for bounty hunters, and it made sense for them. In Fallout 4, power armour feels less like a potent achievement and more like common loot.

New way to assassinate the president

Damn. I wonder why the game doesn’t check for radiation. Were they afraid of party members expiring?

New way to assassinate the president

So recently, I came up with a new idea for slaying President Richardson, thus acquiring his presidential access key and not having to slay anybody in combat. I have not yet tried this, so it requires confirmation. I believe that you can purchase unlimited Roentgen rum or Gamma Gulp beers from...

Can somebody explain to me why having Nuka‐Cola Quantum in Boston is problematic?

Will we ever drive vehicles again?

I liked the automobile from Fallout 2, and Black Isle’s Fallout 3 was going to have five(!) vehicles that somebody could drive. Why hasn’t Bethesda included any usable vehicles yet? Is it too much work to programme one?

Why are so many people buying this game?

Not necessarily. An addictive substance is not necessarily a pleasurable one. Crack is addictive, but nobody praises crack because of that.

    Fallout 4 review roundup #2

Yep, still slobbering all over it! Although I must say, I’m surprised that Quarter to Three gave it a mediocre score considering that they hate us with the fury of a thousand suns.

Why are so many people buying this game?

One explanation is that he was digging desperately to find moments of brilliance in the game. I’ve certainly been in the same position: tolerating something unpleasant in hope that the situation will improve. He’s giving the game a chance, and it ha’n’t paid off.

Why are so many people buying this game?

The answer is simple: algophilia. They probably took notes from Michael Bay. After all, he and Bethesda have a lot in common.

    Is there a tractor beam?

I vaguely remember the previews mentioning that there was going to be an equivalent to the gravity gun (from Half‐Life 2), but my friend doesn’t remember it. Am I imagining things?

    General Discussion Thread of DOOM

I’ve had this idea for a story about a man who wakes up, goes to a restaurant with his friends, and finds out that the restaurant serves human meat, and shit. Soon enough, he finds out that the entire world is anthropophagous, and he has trouble finding any normal foods (fruits, vegetables...
