    New CD-Action Preview

Makes me think of the character status screen that we recently saw (help, someone crippled my head!) that showed a giant "HEAL" button. Gotta dumb things down for the kids who grew up on Xbox. Both. I know what you're getting at, though. A better question would be, which one is a result of the...

    New CD-Action Preview

I like the fact that dialogue and discovery yield XP, as they should, but a cash register sound effect? Seriously? This goes right in the "WTF" list along with drinking radiated toilet water and handheld mini-nuke launchers. It's almost as if Bethesda is making a parody of a RPG.

    Joystick looks at Fallout 3

Yup, I'm aware of that idiotic "dialogue is not an option" quote. I was wondering if this had changed, which it seems that it has. Maybe. Screw it, this thread is giving me a headache.

    Survival Edition Qs

I think we can all agree that it's a fucking $50 plastic clock. No need for so much discussion.

    New CD-Action Preview

So, it's possible to finish the game with a stealth-based character, yet you apparently gain no XP by sneaking past enemies rather than killing them (per Joystick). Ok then.

    Joystick looks at Fallout 3

Yeah, I meant outside of completing quests, obviously. Thing is, this leaves me wondering about the fact that you're supposed to be able to talk your way out of situations as well - so instead of fighting the two supermutants OR sneaking past them, shouldn't you be able to convince them to let...

    Joystick looks at Fallout 3

I really hope that comment about fighting being the only method of gaining XP is some sort of misunderstanding. Surely it has to be. As for the other stuff, meh. I'm sure Dogmeat was on god mode for the sake of the demo. Drinking radiated toilet water is stupid, but we've known about that...

The Age of Decadence Unofficial Gallery

I wasn't really talking about the bandwidth. My point was that the format you chose (full-sized picture after full-sized picture listed in a endless column on a single page) is really awful. It takes an ungodly amount of time to load and it's annoying to wade through.

    Visual crack likes Fallout 3

It's just different tastes, really. I think in RPGs, quite often pure RT combat feels chaotic, and I actually feel like I have less control (strictly speaking about real-time combat in RPGs, not straight action games like Devil May Cry, God of War or what have you). Many times the combat boils...

Special Edition dev diary & Survival Edition announced

I think that's par for the course nowadays with these sorts of AAA titles. The hype machines are completely out of control. Look at Metal Gear Solid 4 - it's being bundled with two different PS3s, comes in several different collector's edition packages and the game is chock full of product...

The Age of Decadence Unofficial Gallery

You didn't pay $4 for both Fallout 1 and 2 when they were brand-new though, did you? Apples & oranges, and yeah I realize you're joking, but still. Agreed. Ever heard of a gallery with thumbnails, guys? JFC. I liked FF7, but FFIV & FFVI are both much better. FF7 gets a lot of extra points...

    Visual crack likes Fallout 3

I like quite a few "action RPGs", but I also love turn-based strategy games/RPGs. There's room in the world for both. I just don't get the argument that "turn-based games don't immerse me in the action". Though I enjoy some of them, the real-time combat in many action RPGs feels chaotic, sloppy...

I might <s>download</s> legally purchase the soundtrack when it's available if I enjoy the music in the game. That "sampler CD" that comes with the CE isn't worth the trouble, really.

Seems like everyone has a story like this...a buddy of mine who had been playing Oblivion and singing its praises tried Fallout on my recommendation and had the same reaction. "I died fighting those stupid rats and quit playing." I was like well, why don't you start over and be more careful...

I have to admit I sorta want that Pipboy clock, but not for $50.

Fallout 3 coverage from here and there

Oh, the irony. Tyshalle drops by the forums to let us all know what big, fat losers we are for wasting our lives bickering on the internet...yet he does so by writing epic, novel-length, soul-sucking posts. You're wasting a lot more of your life than I am, bro. Btw Brother None, I miss your...

Naw, the Hellboy movie was pretty damn entertaining. I admit that I've never read the comics, though. But the flick seemed to contain a pretty hefty amount of intentional cheese and didn't take itself too seriously, which I liked. Edit: and speaking of Guillermo del Toro, Pan's Labyrinth was...

    Gram.pl video-interview with Pete Hines

I'm with you, Eyenixon. The problem is, we're all starved for fresh Fallout 3 news, and right now there just ain't much of it out there. So the FO3 previews keep spouting the same things in different ways, and people keep making the same tired comments about it different ways. Still, I enjoy...

    Fallout 3 worth waiting for

I dunno craig, I play plenty of games that are 20+ years old on a regular basis. Good, fun game design stands the test of time. Brutal, unforgiving grindfests usually don't hold up that well. That's all I'm saying. If those types of grindfests were "better" in your opinion, then it's little...
