Makes a lot of sense--thank you. I'm assuming that the Fallout pre-apocalyptic universe's race for fossil fuels and the greenhouse gases produced were all canceled out by the resultant nuclear winter. I'm also wondering why Utah in FO2 wouldn't be sheet glass because of the salt sands.

    Summer reading

David Markson's at it again and, as a devotee, I must read and reread and grok its essence fully.

    Fallout Haiku

Okay...no takers? Experimental as it takes common ammo to fill a rare gun. Next up: what happens when you have a really high Science skill and use the computer in the Gecko power plant?

I'm surprised that the coasts are still above water. Wouldn't the greenhouse effect and nuclear winter raise the ocean? This means no San Francisco, Florida, or Maryland. (C'mon, who doesn't want to see Bethsoft HQ under 20 feet of radioactive liquid?)

My grandparents own a farm and they used to grow tobacco there and rent graze land to cattle owners. The fields are still patchy because tobacco drains land even with rotation. There's a ramshackle 1920s-era house on a huge hill above the majority of the former fields, and I remember going up...

    Fallout Haiku

Diddle Miria and you'll marry daddy too-- smart tribals hide spears. Next up: how 'bout a haiku about that rare XL70E3 without saying how much fun it is to put it in someone's eye and squeeze the trigger?

    The Positive Thread

I think the ability to kill innocents (as well as plot-critical NPCs) is what makes Fallout so realistic. I think killing innocent people IRL is wrong and despicable. What about James Patterson's Alex Cross series of novels? Bad shit happens to innocent women and children all the time in those...

    The Simpsons Movie [Possible Spoilers]

Is the Simpsons movie anything like the Family Guy movie in the way that there wasn't anything really funny or cool but Seth MacFarlane going "see what we can do with an R-rating that we can't do on TV?" I wish the Futurama movie made it to the big screen instead.

Do I pick the hard ones or something? He talks Quayle-speak-- maybe Black Isle heard of him from another game. Something everyone can enjoy: .44 Magnums!

    Soo...what's for dinner?

There's this godforsaken pulp series that imagines a FO:BoS type of universe with more focus on guns (TRUCKLOADS of guns) than thongs. The characters eat military rations, even a century after the nukes. Makes sense. Not only can that crap withstand just about anything, but military supply kits...

Fallout 2, vista and save games

If you have an original Win98 CD, you can download a Virtual PC and run Fallout that way. Newly updated for Vista, even.

Fallout and Mad Max series, the similarities...

Eastwood didn't direct 'em, but I think they're more his than Leone's. But meh, it's what I think. Not just Redding. New Reno reminds me a lot of Yojimbo/Fistful of Dollars, the way you pit the families against one another, primarily the Richard Wright quest. Granted, not so much FO1. And...

Fallout and Mad Max series, the similarities...

I found the Fallout series more like Clint Eastwood's spaghetti western trilogy, A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Not only do both games reference all three movies, but the setting's also eerily similar.

    The Wasteland. My fan fiction

It's great that you're writing something as experimental as Eliot. Yet I can replace all the wasteland references with other settings and it's no longer Fallout fanfiction. This might just be me, but my definition of fanfic is a story that relates to its origin subject in some way, directly...

    San Fran

I know there's a definite bias on this board towards Fallout fan art, but I couldn't help posting this anyway. "Not even saying goodbye?" he said. The ground shook with his slow, measured steps. Marcus couldn't exactly sneak up on anyone in the wasteland. The space shuttle rocking on...

NPC with a lot of money!

Far less gamebreaking to keep Barter around 20%. I edited mine down past that and was still doing random encounters to buy Power Armor.
