Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.2 - OPEN BETA (ie NOT FINAL)

I don't have fallout installed right now so can't test it but have you tried to fiddle with "Windows version" in winecfg? [spoiler:a8432ba164] [/spoiler:a8432ba164] It can be also set from command line e.g. winetricks winxp It helps to solve compatibility issues for plenty of software...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.2 - OPEN BETA (ie NOT FINAL)

From what you wrote before, it seems that you have problem with fallout replacing modified files in data/proto/items and data/proto/critters from original dat files. Did you set them to read only? If you have clean fallout installation, install RP and set files to read only. For example by...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.2 - OPEN BETA (ie NOT FINAL)

Nope, I don't have problem with overheating. I was trying to find best setup for quite lot of time and even renicing wineserver/fallout.exe priorities doesn't help. But I try cpulimit in my next fallout playthrough, thanks. Maybe if you have positive experience with it, you can add it to RP...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.2 - OPEN BETA (ie NOT FINAL)

Quite a lot of windows games are running in wine with good performance, few even better like on windows, but fallout isn't that case. Even vanilla fallout have poor performance with wine and with high-res patch and some higher resolution is it really bad. IRC fallout was running quite...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.2 - OPEN BETA (ie NOT FINAL)

These requirements are sadly valid only for native running of fallout on windows platform, for linux/unix/mac via wine it's much more than that. I'm playing fallout on linux at my old notebook (1.8 Ghz, 2GB ram) and with hi-res patch it's almost unplayable.

Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

Win32 API is raw functionality to handle windows/calls etc. MFC is framework for easier building GUI/activex/... by object programming which is wrapping raw Win32 API into better interface. So definitely use MFC or other framework ATL/WTL. But i would recommend use ATL/WTL over MFC...

Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

It won't be complicated for end user if there will be .Net installed by default on latest version of Windows. But as I was telling, .Net isn't backward compatibile even with its older version so it's dumb. I think that Wine users are smallest part of people who use your modpack. But as you...

Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

It's quite a long time when I was building GUI for Windows but in these days were Borland C++ builder 6 best tool for fast drag&drop gui in pure C++. Also you can look at Windows MFC and WTL libraries. They can be easily used with Visual Studio. One of the best GUI designers is Qt Creator...

Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

.Net is running somehow in wine but as you can see it's quite unstable http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=2586 But I was trying to say that any external dependency which isn't installed on targeted OS in default, isn't good at all. So your Starter-app won't work...

Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

Good work, but if you will be developing this in C#, then you are forcing user having installed .Net libraries. It would be much better have this utillity developed in native languages like C/C++ where every library can be statically linked to one binary file. Or make it platform independed for...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1.2b (Unofficial Expansion)

Did you set-up permissions of data/ files only to read? chmod 444 .... If not, fallout is rewriting files from master.dat so that would make your problem. i think the only solution is to reinstall RP and make a new game

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1.2b (Unofficial Expansion)

you have to make wine dll override of ddraw.dll . see http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/F2RP_Technical_Info#WINE for more info.

Hmm.. it would be a great replacement for the default car texture, if it would be in correct angle.

Fallout 2 mod FO2 Engine Tweaks (Sfall)

Yep you are right, I was trying to use GPUBlt because of fallout with Hi-res patch on linux is almost unplayable ( too slow animations, mouse lagging). These lags occured through all wine versions so I think It's not Wine related issue (maybe some regressions in hi-res patch??). And CPU usage...

Fallout 2 mod FO2 Engine Tweaks (Sfall)

Hi Timeslip, I've got issues with sfall and GPUBlt support on linux and even on Win XP. Every time it crashes. My graphic Intel GM965 supports vertex/pixel shaders 3.0: Do you think that something can be done with it? Thanks Sfall version v2.16 description: VGA compatible...

Hi-Res Patches for Fallout1&2 & the BIS Mapper

Yep, I have that menu. If you haven't, you don't have hi-res patch active. Install newest sfall and hi-res patch versions as I have and it will be working. I installed first RP, then Sfall and at the end hi-res patch.

Hi-Res Patches for Fallout1&2 & the BIS Mapper

    This is my working configuration with resolution 1024x768 for RP. - RP 2.1.2b - Hi-res patch 3.06 f2_res.ini - Sfall 2.16 ddraw.ini - Wine 1.4-rc1 And these are my Wine registry keys for Fallout2.exe "DirectDrawRenderer"="opengl" "Multisampling"="enabled"...

Hi-Res Patches for Fallout1&2 & the BIS Mapper

It works without any problem as you can see http://www.4shared.com/photo/2Wc6na3Y/fall.html . It should be working out of box, but if you have problem, update sfall and hi-res patch to newer version. If the hi-res patch is active there should be new graphical submenu in main menu preferences.

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1.2b (Unofficial Expansion)

Newer builds of wine aren't so much optimized for an old games. I would suggest to install wine older then version 1.0 for example http://sourceforge.net/projects/wine/files/Source/0.9.61/ . But I don't know if there will be problems with sfall/hi-res patch. Don't install binary packages because...
