Wouldn't it be easier to start with a firm Fallouty base and work from there than to start with something different and sprinkle Fallout fluff on it? (I might be interpreting this wrong) Edit: not easier, better.

Just got Gothic. So far the world seems really well put together and fleshed out. The combat is going to take some getting used to, and the strafe mechanism is annoying. I am enjoying it however.
