    Fallout tidbits roundup

I always like the way Shady Sands looked, because it looked like a town that was actually built by the people that lived there. After 200 years would you live in an old bombed out building? I wouldn't. I'd build my own. In the American southwest, the best thing to build for the...

Wasteland 2 Update: new music sample and dialog info

I've never gotten a clear answer on this, but from what i can gather Snuffy Waldon was credited as the composer for The Stand mini-series, and Morgan was working with him at the time, but wasn't credited on the show. The guitar in the new track is the same arrangement, but definitely either...

Rail Thug - Then & Now

I'm pretty sure that first one isn't supposed to be dynamite. They just had an extremely limited color palate. Notice his eyes are as red as the cigar.

    Fallout 1 Fixt mod

I haven't played through Fallout in probably 2 years. The next time I do I'll use this. I might be getting back to Fallout sooner than I thought. :) Thanks for all the work put in to this, from everyone involved.

IGN's Top 100 RPG list is Pretty Stupid

I'm pretty sure that list just gave me a brain tumor.

Brian Fargo Unite 2012 Speech, Wasteland 2 Footage

To me the framerate looks a bit choppy when he's panning, but it's really hard to tell if that's the actual game's performance or if it's the video.

    Wasteland 2 mutant dog portrait

I'd guess that Wasteland 1 had animated portraits because that was one of the places in the game they could show off some detail, in those days. Today it would be a lot of effort, for very little pay off, considering the game itself will be very detailed. It's not like we'll be battling...

Probably false rumors: Fallout 4 to be set in Boston

Maybe they can farm Avellone out to write something good for it.

    Fallout New Vegas Cut Materials

The Unreal engine has it's own scripting language that hasn't changed much over the years, but the underlying tech is not the same stuff from 1999. Bethesda's Creation engine is just Gamebryo rebranded because the company that made it went under, and Bethesda paid for the source code.

    Wasteland 2 Saturation Option Screenshots

To me the middle one looks best. The first is just too saturated.

Rumor: Bethesda has the rights for a STALKER title

The game will start with your birth, and a few quotes from the bible.

Chris Taylor "Geek of the Week" Q&A

That's the first time I've seen an original Fallout developer be honest about not really liking Fallout 3. I'll bet his opinion of Bethesda is less than zero right about now, considering they just shut down the Fallout game he was working on...

    Wasteland 2 screenshot and tidbits

I love it! I think that for such an early shot, it's looking great. Of course people can find places that need tweaked, but I think if this is the direction they're going, everything is going to be fine.

WIP Wasteland 2 screenshot coming next week

Two reasons not to blindly hate Bethesda: They let Obsidian in on the Fallout franchise, by choice. They still fully support mods to their games, when a lot of other PC studios quit doing that. I'm disappointed in the direction they took Fallout, but they do get some things right...

Fallout: New Vegas + DLC, Fallout 3: GOTY 75% off on Steam

Kind of OT but since we're talking about Sawyer's mod, has anyone here played a full game with it? I was wondering how it works out with the level limit being taken down so much. Does the game scale with that new level cap, or do things just end up insanely hard towards the end-game?

Brian Fargo on Wasteland, plus Unity tidbits

I hope they don't kill any real amount of dev time on it. I'd rather see their efforts going in to W2.

Voice acting in RPGs may be more trouble than it's worth

I don't know about anyone else, but every time I play an RPG that is fully voice acted, I always end up reading the subtitles and skipping the voice dialogue. I also read books, so what do I know?

Diablo III proves old-school Fallout can do well today

Don't think so much about he actual game play of Diablo 3, but the aesthetics. It's a beautiful game, and probably one of the best looking isometric games to ever come out. As I played it, I couldn't help but wish for a Fallout or Baldur's Gate style game using that sort of an engine...

EA Origin gets Kickstarter projects, Wasteland 2 is first

EA is the biggest publisher in the world. They refuse to fund games like this, but want to profit off of them anyway. Comparing them to Valve is laughable because Valve is not a publisher. You can be fine with that, if you choose to, but not me.
