Obsidian to Co-Develop Wasteland 2 if $2.1M is hit

If the gaming community can make this happen, my faith in humanity will never be in doubt again.

    Wasteland 2 news later today

Edited out my lame joke for the real deal: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/03/30/obisidian-to-co-develop-wasteland-2-on-one-condition/ Holy shitballs! People, we have to make this happen!

    Wasteland Kickstarter Update #4

The Wasteland 2 kickstarter campaign hasn't even finished yet... They haven't seen a dime of that money, and they won't until it's over. There is no time to chew up, because the schedule for the kickstarter doesn't end until mid-April.

Putting an NMA bar in Wasteland 2 (goal reached!)

It really seems like a lot of resources to spend on development for all of these personalized items. When you look at what is being offered from kickstarter, it seems like a bit much, IMO. I hope having to do all of these customized items for people doesn't end up burning in to time that...

    Wasteland 2 Fan Art

I really like the Wasteland 2 logo. And yeah, I think post apocalyptic settings go well with a "wild west" vibe. That's one thing I always enjoyed about aspects of the Dark Tower novels.

    Assorted Fallout news roundup

I'll stop it when publishers stop flying reviewers out for a free vacation to do the reviews.

    Assorted Fallout news roundup

NV has sold 5 million copies. If that means less than a fucking metacritic score, then I don't see how anyone could want to work in this industry. In any other field of work, selling 5 million units of ANYTHING would be cause for a bonus. Not so in the corporate game development...

    GameZone Wasteland 2 Interview

On the issue of housing, I don't have a problem with it. Let's just not get too tied to the idea of a "house". The car in Fallout 2 served the same function as a house, which at the end of the day is mostly about storage. I'd love to see something like the F2 car.

    Wasteland 2 Kickstarter Update #2

And now the other shoe drops. Apparently Obsidian isn't doing too hot atm, with a few stories floating around. Fallout New Vegas failed to get an 85 rating on Metacritic, which means Bethesda isn't obligated to give them a bonus and pay royalties for the game. They had to lay off a bunch...

Wasteland 2 Kickstarter hits $700,000, new video coming

It's a done deal, folks! $901,806 as of this posting, and counting!!! I'm really really happy and amazed at the gaming community. I wasn't sure what the response would be like. If I was Fargo, I think I'd be too excited to sleep tonight. Best thing I've read on a webpage in a long...

Wasteland 2 Kickstarter hits $700,000, new video coming

I just happened to be checking the project site when the final 2 10,000 dollar packages sold within a minute of each other. 851k as of this posting! This is really going to happen, without a doubt!!! Met their goal in under 48 hours. But yes... PC gaming, and old school party...

    Wasteland 2 Kickstarter Update #1

At this rate they're easily going to get 50% of it in the first 24 hours!

    Wasteland 2 Kickstarter Update #1

Publishers should be taking notice, but given the current state of the games industry, they won't.

    Wasteland 2 Kickstarter Update #1

It's doing amazing! It went up 40,000 while I cooked and ate dinner. Stunning! This is looking like it's actually going to happen! **Edit** Holy crap, as I posted this, they got 2 10,000 donations back to back! So cool to see people with money stepping up to the plate.

Tim Cain GDC 2012 Fallout Post-mortem Live

For me I thought it was interesting hearing him talk about the cohesiveness of Interplay in those days. So rare. Even the marketing people "got it", when it came to the game. I still remember buying Fallout at Best Buy when it was brand spanking new, and the thing that grabbed me was...
