    New Vegas Definitive Ending Explanation

I think this is the best solution. We get a quality ending, and still have the option to keep playing.

New Vegas DLC, ending and interview

I'm still amazed that Bethesda literally won awards for writing in Fallout 3. The writing was, IMO, the worst aspect of the game. None of it made any logical sense at all. I think the way Obsidian is approaching this is much better. It sounds like they're putting a true Fallout-style...

Why there are no ladders in Bethesda/Gamebryo games

Some of you are trying to defend them over this ladder business. Just stop it. Early bots for Quake would climb ladders (Reaper Bot). Enemies in SiN would climb ladders. Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 makes extensive use of ladders for how the infected get around the maps. The bots made for...

Why there are no ladders in Bethesda/Gamebryo games

Anyone who thinks the Gamebryo engine can make "open worlds" hasn't been paying attention. Huge chunks of Fallout 3 are just big rooms with skyboxes for a ceiling. Look out behind the Lincoln Memorial, towards Megaton, and try to claim you're in an "open world". Not that this is bad, mind...

    Hello, old friend

He needs to be a bit more chubbier (F2 face is pretty round), and have a bit more wrinkles on his skin, but even given that he doesn't look too bad. I recognized him before I saw that it was, in fact, him. I must say, at this point I'm actually looking forward to this game, and I hope...

Tim Cain interview on Matt Chat, part 3

This was a really great interview. I really need to play Arcanum again. It's been a few years, and that is definitely one of the better RPGs ever. I loved it for how original it was, considering it used a lot of familiar themes. I really enjoyed the crafting system, with the engineering...

Tim Cain interview on Matt Chat, part 2

I just have this to add. Words of wisdom from an expert. When asked why Diablo 3 was keeping the isometric viewpoint, and not following the trend of making it a first person perspective, Leonard Boyarsky, the lead world designer for Diablo 3, had this to say: But what does he know? He...

    New Vegas tidbits

The slo-mo change actually sounds great to me. I don't totally dislike the VATS system, but he excessive slo-mo shots really get old after awhile.

    FOOL concept, kids and beta

I refused to use the car in Fallout 2 because the rubber tires would have been gone that long after the war. Oh wait, no I didn't. I don't get the attitude that the game should be realistic. Fallout was NEVER about realism. Science! isn't realism. If you are yammering about...

    Fallout: New Vegas E3 previews

My god that brought back memories to me for some reason. I remember seeing this game "Fallout" at Best Buy. I had never heard of it, but I loved the Mad Max movies, so I bought it. It totally blew me away. Up to that point my only experience with RPG games was all fantasy based, and it...

    Fallout: New Vegas E3 previews

None of this should be surprising in any way. The people working on this were the ones responsible for Vault City and New Reno. I'm actually relieved we don't have 30's style Chicago gangsters on every street corner, and perfectly manicured lawns...

Gamespot's Fallout: New Vegas Demo at E3

Oddly, I'm looking forward to this game. I'm giving Obsidian the benefit of the doubt here. I think I've finally resigned myself to the reality that the Fallout style games (F1, F2) have been killed.

Fallout: New Vegas to be released October 19/22

Considering the target platform of Fallout NV is the Xbox360, I don't think Starcraft II coming out would have any noticeable effect on how well the game does.

Fallout: New Vegas preview, at E3

Rage won't be canceled. It will just end up being the first id game without a Linux client, mod tools, or a source code release in a few years...

JE Sawyer on guns & gender

I don't see a problem with splitting big guns up and putting them in categories by ammo type. I think it's a good change.

    Postworld Update

If you guys take it to the finish line, and put it up for sale, I'll buy it if it turns out to be a a continuation of what Fallout should have been. Make a Linux client too! :)

    Postworld Update

I think it looks amazing, and it shows exactly why Bethesda was so wrong to try to act like the only way a game could be done is to make it a first person perspective. Imagine if Fallout 3 had used an engine like this... Keep up the great work, I'm keeping a close eye on this one.

Fallout one of the best game franchise revivals

From a financial standpoint, I agree with the premise. From an artistic standpoint, I roll my eyes in disgust at the premise. Fallout 3 sacrificed the core game play mechanics of the games it's supposed to be based on, so that it would appeal to ADD gamers.
