    Legacy of the Ancients

I played Legacy, but I don't think I did really like it that well, despite the fact that I was a big Ultima fan. If I remember correctly, you depleted your food supply at an ungodly rate that made it very annoying. I seem to remember starting on an island, and trying to get a boat. I do...

The one game you've played the most...ever

If we are counting online games, its probably a little MUD called Hidden Worlds that I used to play. Otherwise, Wasteland. I played it when it came out for a very long time, but couldn't finish it. I got stuck in the sewers, without any way to leave and both of my save disks were with me...

    NPD's 2008 numbers

Its pretty much the same for games as it is for retail products, as it should be. The reason things like TV ratings are different is because they need to be able to reasonably promise advertisers that they reach a certain number of consumers, to be able to put a monetary value on advertising...

    NPD's 2008 numbers

Fallout 3 was definitely a success.

    V13 tidbit

I totally agree with you there. Thats why, for myself, Ultima Online, at the very beginning was the only MMO I've ever really liked. And I'm saying that as somebody who WAS NOT a PK at all in that game. When UO came out I was in my final year of college, so I was barely even going to class...

    V13 tidbit

No question about that, and I too don't have a problem with players who play the most being the best. That isn't really what I meant with my comment. I just want it to feel rewarding to play at a casual pace as well. I'm not looking, or caring about, having the "best" character in the game...

Fair enough. Although I suppose the other part of that statement means that you do have a "phat lewt level grind" planned out as well. I don't neccessarily think there's anything wrong with that, depending on how its done. I will give it a shot regardless. If you want my input (which I'm...

    V13 tidbit

Honestly, I think these comments are very telling. Not only about Fallout Online, but about what would have likely "really happened" if members of the original Fallout team were making Fallout 3 at this juncture. Those quotes are fairly identical to the type of thing that Bethesda was saying...

Fallout 3 sales by the numbers

They won't get anywhere near top spot. It will just be interesting to see the numbers. Gears of War 2 released in early November, it will crush Fallout.

Fallout 3 sales by the numbers

Fallout 3 released on October 28th, so that's 4 days of sales. It will be interesting to see the numbers for November.

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #30

I think the combat system of Fallout 1 & 2 was one of the best things about it too, and its for that reason that I'm also one of the Fallout fans that liked Tactics, as well. I will say that I think VATS is a lot more fun than I expected. But as for Oblivion. I did like Oblivion, but I...

Fallout 3 moves 4.7 million copies

As I said, "Some will laud that, and others will lament it." I think I knew where you stood on that issue long ago, so there is no reason you should care, nor was I claiming that you should. For me personally I do care. Why? Because I like Fallout 3, and I'd like to see more Fallout games...

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #30

I've actually found myself staying up way too late playing Fallout this past week, and sufferring for it at work the next days. Its definitely a matter of preference. I don't find the voice acting to be much superior in JRPGs, if at all, but even so those aren't usually things I care that...

Fallout 3 moves 4.7 million copies

I'd have to disagree here, since the trend from Oblivion to Fallout 3 appears to be a trend to a much deeper, better game, IMO. We'll see where it goes from here, but one thing that seems likely is that the Fallout name will carry on, and in a pretty popular fashion. Fallout 3 won't be the...

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #30

I'm somebody that travels outside of the mainstream for JRPGs. Shin Megami Tensei, Etrian Odyssey, Shadow Hearts, Suikoden. No question you can find better offerings than the pop-culture fare if you look for it, but it doesn't change the fact that I'll take Fallout 3 over any of them in a heartbeat.

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #30

I think you underestimate Bethesda and Elder Scrolls fans. People still remember Arena after 15 years, and 10 years from now, Fallout 5 will probably be here, or about to be. Bethesda's take on Fallout isn't going to be forgotten that soon. We didn't forget Wasteland when Fallout came...

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #30

Fallout 3 is a legitimately good game. One can argue the merits of its correlation, or lack thereof, to Fallout 1 or 2. One could argue about the decline of the quality, and quantity, of RPGs, in general, over the years. But, other than those factors, I've put in about 30 hours into...

My thoughts after even more hours (maybe spoilers)

Well Ok, now I've probably put in 20 hours to this game and I'm still not very far along in either the main storyline, or in how much of the map I've uncovered. I've still only explored probably 15% of the map. This is, by no stretch, a short game. There is an awful lot to do. Maybe too much...

My thoughts after even more hours (maybe spoilers)

Well, I got the game on Tuesday, but was in the middle of traveling for a Job Interview and to finalize a new home purchase so I didn't get a chance to sit down and play with it until last night. First of all, it starts on a bad note. I was somebody that was actually very welcoming of the...

Fallout 3: Are you getting it?

Picked up my lunchbox Unfortunately, I have to catch a plane after work and won't get a chance to play it until Thursday, but Fallout 3 is now in my possession, in a Shiny Vault-Tec lunbox. I probably won't be back at NMA, or any gaming forums, until I'm finished, or a long ways into the...
