Freelancer. It's seriously the best game of that type I've ever played, you can do cargo runs from one planet that sells an item low to another that buys the item very high, you can be a bandit and attack cargo ships, it's a pretty awesome space game. There's also a ton of galaxies to explore...

I downloaded the oooooooooold school X-Com: UFO Defense and have been playing the hell out of it recently, superhuman mode is insanely hard yet insanely fun when you know how to set up your base the right way.
