    I miss you, Fallout

If at least they were honest. Each game should only have one big achievement, which is the one that gets unlocked once you've played past the limit to get your refund. It is, after all, the only one they truly care about.

Left-wing Bias in Bethesda's Fallout Products

Which is funny, since you'd think that the moderate spread of the political compass tool/test and its 2D approach would help people understand the distinction.

I was worried about that as well, and turns out that actually, it's fine. Playing on Xbox360, so no access to mods, but the vanilla version looks fine to me. It's not like when going back to Morrowind, where the visual aspect really looks dated. The ground textures do look their age, there's...

"Kid In The Fridge" Quest = the stupidest quest ever.

I think we're onto something... How about the next game has a perk that, instead of adding wacky stuff, removes all the lore retcons? 'Authentic Wasteland' Only take this if you like your Fallout universe mostly consistent and immersive. Every rank decreases the population of super mutants and...

    Finally uninstalled

I have nothing to add. I share every single one of your points, and I'm left with exactly the same feeling: It made me miss NV one hell of a lot, and I've restarted it last week. The step backwards really does feel insulting.

    I miss you, Fallout

I take your point, sir. In my disappointment, I used doom-like as a pejorative thing, only in the sense that it's not what I want out of Fallout game. It's a BAD doom-like, I suppose, in those levels.

    I miss you, Fallout

So, erm, I'm going to take the liberty of resurrecting my own 'review' thread. T'was the weekend before Christmas. And in rural Surrey, in the southern parts of England, the weather was miserable. Mild, but grey and wet. So, I decided that I would give Fallout 4 one last chance. In fact, I...

    Fallout 4 review roundup #2

I have a feeling I came very close to having a problem like that. I was on my way to Goodneighbour when I got the prompt to go see him, so I went right away, and went him inside the house, but right at the front door. Dialogue happened, weapon was given, and after that he just exited the house...

So, can we talk about what Fallout 4 does well?

This is a great post, that manages to describe how annoying the emoticon can be, by likening it to one of the most annoying songs in the history of vocal farts. My hat bows to you.

    Fallout 4 DLC "Rumors/Speculation/Thoughts"

Guys, stop, you have no idea how much that thing traumatized me back then.

Current state of things and solution regarding Fallout

Synchronicity is a beautiful thing. A few posts on Kotaku's fluffy articles, and boom, their latest masterpiece of journalism, fresh out of the oven: http://kotaku.com/fallout-4-companions-ranked-1748307650 It's a thing of beauty.

Most overused(annoying) things in video games

So much this. Collectibles, and missions that are there just for achievements. Two examples of GTA-like stuff come to mind right now: Watchdogs, where doing missions gets you weapons that you already have, and my personal favourite, Shadow of Mordor where all the 'legends' quests do absolutely...

    Fallout 4 review roundup #2

What I had yesterday was that I managed to exit my Power Armor mid-fall, which led to it remaining suspended in the air. That was the highlight of my 10 minutes attempt to get back into FO4, after which I decided that indeed, going back to NV was a good choice, I'm at REPCONN and I'm happy...

An analogy for the "mods 'll fix it" argument

Well in the case of FO4, it would be an inspired move, as you could hope to sell it back to some unsuspecting schmuck.

    What was your first RPG?

Hmm, if Heroes of the Lance counts, that would be it. Otherwise, Bard's Tale or Darkspyre, I honestly can't remember which one I played first. That's for the PC, and roughly at the same time I would have been playing Swords & Serpents on NES. (Interplay owned my soul very early on, with...

Current state of things and solution regarding Fallout

He has a point about the direct marketing material, though. I had a look around on the official site of the game, and on Bethesdurr's site, and indeed it doesn't seem to say "RPG" anywhere. Don't get me wrong, it's still full of misleading marketing speak, but I'm really, really struggling to...

The Ultimate Movie Thread of Ultimate Destiny

Yeah, but that's already how we talk about the Fallout games, can't apply the exact same world view on every topic, it would get noticed :V

Favourite quests in Fallout 4? *spoilers*

I think I've already mentioned it somewhere, but I like 'Order up'. It's really early, it's over really quickly, it's only in one location, but there are several different ways to approach it, different sides to be on, and actual choices which aren't stupidly clear cut as good/evil. I also...

Fallout 4 is not "Skyrim with guns."

Same here. As I said in a previous post, I actually managed to enjoy Skyrim despite the dumbing down, mainly because I had stopped expecting anything else, unlike the Fallout franchise. But there's a limit. The game would have to be spectacularly good in its combat mechanics etc in order to...

Fallout 4 is not "Skyrim with guns."

Gross exaggeration. They will ask you, at least, and you will have the following 4 choices of dialogue: 1. Yes 2. I don't think I'm right for this, but yes. 3. HATE MAGES 4. I guess, yes.
