Interplay financials: Fallout Online in doubt

How do you quote what you don't know? Deals such as the Masthead one specifically say "Terms of the deal were not disclosed.". Some deals weren't even posted in the news section but via SEC reports, even then, the entire terms weren't disclosed as alluded to above by Troybuilt and Orionquest...

An open letter to Obsidian Entertainment

That's a valid point but I agree in that I too want to see what the tech holds for Obsidian going forward. I'm sure most reviews will end up having "Obsidian stigma" where the condition of games like New Vegas will be in the back of reviewers minds, this can work either way though.

Interplay financials: Fallout Online in doubt

No worries and sorry if my message had a attackish tone to it, that wasn't my intent. That being said, you do bring up a valid point and it could be referencing a milestone system or maybe even a full $30 million deal where all the money is received at once.

An open letter to Obsidian Entertainment

On a lighter note, I tried the Dungeon Siege III demo on 360 yesterday and I didn't come across any bugs, technical issues, etc. Of course it's simply a demo but the signs are looking good so far. It seems having in house tech could pay off for Obsidian and if it does, hopefully it's something...

Interplay financials: Fallout Online in doubt

No, I'm assuming they must have some sort of a funding system set up, probably not $30 million up front but perhaps a contract for that much stretched out over a period of time (ie, you receive X million every X months or something). I assume they must be under the impression that they have the...

Interplay financials: Fallout Online in doubt

Again, what I said was if the MMO was canceled and the choices were Interplay's financial condition (aka they crumble as a result which is something you allude to) or the Fallout lawsuit then it's more likely the cause would be the Fallout lawsuit. I gave plenty of evidence above straight...

Interplay financials: Fallout Online in doubt

Beamdog only did MDK2 which released a few weeks back, the current emulation ports were done by other studios IIRC but thanks for mentioning the WiiWare stuff since I forgot about it. I thought we were talking about the factors that could lead to the demise of the Fallout MMO if any. I said...

Interplay financials: Fallout Online in doubt

As per the SEC filing the cash flow is coming mostly from digital PC sales (back catalog, Interplay Discovery, etc), console sales (not sure what of), royalties, as well as mobile platforms (iPhone, Android, DSi, etc). Interplay is bringing in revenue, and even net revenue increased in...

Interplay financials: Fallout Online in doubt

I'm basing it on the fact that, A. They've been short on cash for years now with debt but still managing to get by. B. According to the MMO contract the minimum cash required to develop the MMO needed to be locked in by April 2009 which Interplay claims to have done (be it straight up $30...

Interplay financials: Fallout Online in doubt

It's inevitable that the game will be made, it's just a matter of who will be the ones making it.

Interplay financials: Fallout Online in doubt

That's not Herve. ;) The only thing "dark" I found about Fallout 3 was the damn subway system! It didn't really push the "dark" aspects of the post apocalyptic much IMO. If the "humor" they're referencing is similar to the type of humor found in the original Fallout games I'd be alright with...

Interplay financials: Fallout Online in doubt

Nothing new, here's the report from last year which basically says the same thing, as do the ones before it. http://sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1057232/000117091810000068/fm10q-123109.htm And, etc etc, companies use that section of their reports to describe the worst case scenario...

An open letter to Obsidian Entertainment

Didn't the original game end with the characters waving to the camera on the "beach planet"? How foolish of them to not end their game, which opens with a massacre on a colony and ship set in a war torn galaxy on a high note! Haven't played any of the Neverwinter Nights 2 titles so I can't...

Obsidian CEO wishes New Vegas "wasn't as glitchy"

The Assassin's Creed games technically aren't open world in the same way since you basically have the world split up into big level chunks, it's not seamless. In theory though you can technically modify any engine to suit your needs.

Obsidian hit with another round of layoffs

Well didn't Bethesda originally announce eight DLC packs for the game? Only one is released so far of course with another coming, so I guess one might assume they're canceled?

Obsidian hit with another round of layoffs

Terrible news, I'm playing through Alpha Protocol myself now and I'm really liking it despite the flaws. I hope they find success though, their games really haven't sold multi millions asides from New Vegas if memory serves right.

    Jason D. Anderson left InXile

What happened under Valve? I know there was the "closure" but all staff were moved to Seattle IIRC, all paid by Valve. If Valve owned the Turtle Rock name, depending on how it was re-negotiated, there is a possibility Valve could own a certain percentage of the company but not majority...

    Bethesda vs Interplay hijinks continue

The sequel that could have worked! I wonder what lead to the BOS team being structured that way and what thoughts during development were. Have any team members ever blogged about their development experience?

    Bethesda vs Interplay hijinks continue

Fair enough but it's in a entirely different league than BOS IMO. Just check the games credits. BOS was done by Digital Mayhem I believe who was also doing Run Like Hell around the same time (now that was a game with a lot of potential, Dead Space seems more like what RLH was going to be)...

    Bethesda vs Interplay hijinks continue

Tactics was a good game (especially in the face of BOS), it had some canon issues but largely it was still a pretty good game. Brotherhood of Steel had little to do with Fallout and gameplay wise was pretty hit or miss.
