F:NV Patch out for PS3, coming to Xbox360 and PC next week

Still waiting for that Alpha Protocol patch they hinted at after launch before I jump in. I think they pretty much have to support it in this case, the bugs with New Vegas seem to be far more notable to the masses in comparison to 3 where you might not have encountered very many bugs...

    Bethesda buying Obsidian rumors

I don't know if that's how Megatexture works, the Wiki makes it seem like you can stream in separate details as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MegaTexture

    Bethesda buying Obsidian rumors

Whoops, seems I accidentally deleted a word in my post. But yes, UE 3 was what I was talking about, it was somewhat modified by them to accommodate the RPG aspect of it and all. BioWare has made internal engines in the past and they've worked really well for them. They were also licensed out...

    Bethesda buying Obsidian rumors

With Fallout: New Vegas or Alpha Protocol? With New Vegas, I don't think Obsidian modified the engine much? The AP engine was their own unique build, and SEGA at least on the public side of things was backing the project pretty nicely. Everyone keeps bringing up id Tech 5, but is there any...

    Bethesda buying Obsidian rumors

If they were going to buy or acquire stake in Interplay, they probably would have gotten a better price for them a few years ago anyway.

    Interplay files 10-Q

There should be some new developments this month, I'm sure they've been doing stuff in the past behind closed doors, it just hasn't been made public.

    Bethesda buying Obsidian rumors

It's difficult to tell without looking at the original article, but this could simply be the magazine speculating solely on the success of Fallout: New Vegas and the fact that ZeniMax has been buying studios recently. Obsidian's success is largely due to them being independent and working on...

Fallout: New Vegas leading the digital sales, retail sales

I wouldn't use a single game as an indication of this happening, how well has Arcania IV sold?

    FOOL dev quotes round-up

Depends what they consider a success, 500k subscribers? 1 million? 10 million? Gameplay aside, even if the game attempts to appeal to classic Fallout fans, I think they might have a moderate success on their hands. The work would largely need to be on the writing and setting if that were the...

    FOOL Newsletter #3

Yeah the font is likely to fit into the theme. But the message itself, perhaps it's an in world joke as well? Like, those who pirate content for the Pip Pad for example.

Pip-Pad hunh? As with all Fallout Online newsletters, I'm amused and confused.

NPD confirms: Fallout: New Vegas is doing well

Detailed figures courtesy of Neo Gaf. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=413244 I've heard good things about 2K11 but have yet to pick it up. I've heard people go as far as saying it's the best Basketball game ever made.

Alpha Protocol wasn't Gamebryo, it was Unreal Engine 3.

    Van Buren tech demo

Re: Van Buren nearly finished game I guess it depends, what happened to a lot of the Black Isle/Interplay stuff after the closure? If they were sold off to pay for the debt, I'd assume those that bought the equipment probably wiped the HDD's down or don't even realize there is data on them...

    Emergent Game Technologies goes bottoms-up

Bethesda aside, the engine wasn't very popular. Telling Bethesda they couldn't use the engine simply because their titles had technical issues would be cutting off the hand that feeds. It might have been looked at as buggy on the consumer end but the developer side could be different. The...

    Emergent Game Technologies goes bottoms-up

If EGT gets royalties, I'm sure Bethesda might be the ones keeping them afloat for this long! The engine hasn't been very popular "this generation".

    Emergent Game Technologies goes bottoms-up

Depending on how Gamebryo is licensed out, they might be able to build a new engine on top of it? For example, the "Call of Duty engine" has id Tech 3(?) at its core. BioShock and BioShock 2 also used UE 2.5 but with custom modifications as well as modifications from 3.

5 million copies of Fallout: New Vegas shipped says Bethesda

I think Obsidian should be focusing on their own IP's a bit as well. Long term it would seem beneficial, especially if the "outsource" philosophy begins to dry up like it is beginning to with movie tie ins. It might make them more recognizable to the masses like how BioWare is with Dragon Age...
