My Own Theory About Why F4 Is The Way It Is

If you think that this is the thread to discuss the relative merits and/or shortcomings of Skyrim, Morrowind and Fallout 3 I'm afraid you are mistaken, please stick to the topic at hand. There are many people who like both Skyrim (myself for instance) and the later Fallout games (me not so...

My Own Theory About Why F4 Is The Way It Is

Full Disclaimer: * I don't work with anything even remotely related to gaming * I have absolutely zero inside information * This is my own crackpot theory for which I have absolutely zero proof With that out of the way, here goes. Fallout 4 is not only worse than both Fallout 3 and Skyrim...

Everyone ready for the Fallout 4 awards?

I normally don't care for GOTY awards, and I didn't watch this one either. But when I heard that Witcher 3 had won 3 awards and Fallout 4 had won ZERO I had to giggle... Also - Pillars of Eternity won best RPG at the global game awards (W3 GOTY). Good choice. But to be fair I think Bethesda...

Can we all agree Bethesda did power armor right?

Had I made F4 power armor would have been HAAAAAAARD to obtain. I mean really friggin hard. BoS would have had it since they have the expertise to build and maintain it. But everyone else, not so much. Two ways to get power armor in my game: 1) Join BoS. NOT EASY. And that's before you even...

It all comes tumbling down, tumbling down.

It happens on meta-critic as well that reviews get removed. It's pretty easy to report a review which you don't like for things like minor spoilers, language... you can even select "other strong reason" lol. But maybe steam is more diligent in removing bad reviews, they do want to sell games...

It all comes tumbling down, tumbling down.

This is by far the best video I've found which explains what is wrong with Diablo 3 from my point of view. This guy really nails it IMHO.

How would you have done it?

I don't like the whole being a dad (or a mom) and looking for your son thing. Not everyone wants to be that character. Using the current story element I think I would have preffered to be the son (or daughter) growing up at the institute (thinking they are good and having friends there and good...

What could Obsidian do with FO4?

The biggest and most important change would be that Obsidian would allow you to play as anyone you wanted to play as while Bethesda is forcing you into a their way of playing the game, and what character you should be.

[POLL] Is Fallout 4 better than Fallout 3?

You forgot Fallout NV. Fallout NV >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fallout 3 > Fallout 4 And if you're wondering about "Fallout 3 > Fallout 4" it's only because FO3 still treated the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. and skill points system with a semblance of respect. I can't really be bothered...

    What was your first RPG?

Dungeon Master on an old Apple machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xm4B22b_imQ Although I was too young at the time to make much of it. Later I had some amiga games but no real RPG games as I can recall. Then I got a nintendo NES and played Zelda 1 & 2 a bit but never finished them, I was...

Examples of Bad Writing in Fallout 4 [Spoilers]

So it's kind of like Dragon Age: Inquisition. If you do some horrible thing that a NPC really dislikes they'll make a big sad frowny face and a little angry speech and then get on with it. I miss the days of Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, I don't think any game has handled companion relationships better...

Examples of Bad Writing in Fallout 4 [Spoilers]

So, right from the start everything about the writing in Fallout 4 seemed wrong. And I don't just mean the vertibirds and stuff like that. I mean pacing, believability and character progression. I choose to play as the female and at the beginning of the game I'm in the home, caring for the baby...

"Your not allowed to have a opinion of Fallout 4 if you didn't finish the game!"

I don't have to eat a turd to know it's a turd. If some people feel they have to confirm before voicing an opinion... well, power to you. Go ahead. I'll be over here, maintaining a safe distance.

    Will I enjoy Fallout 4?

    No.

Main Questline: Better or worse than Fallout 3's?

I F3 you were the child looking for your parent, now you are the parent looking for the child. Think about the writing genius it took to come up with that revolutionary storyline and..... exhale. I bet if Emil is still the lead writer for Fallout 5 we will be the grandchild looking for our...

It all comes tumbling down, tumbling down.

I'm ready to join in the bashing of Fallout 4. Let the bashing begin. (obsidian to make all future Fallout games, yes please)

Which do you like better?: Action adventure games or RPGs?

I'm mostly just in it for the story. If you ask me what the most important part of any game is I'd say story, story, story. And then after that I'd like gameplay mechanics, sound design and graphics which doesn't distract from telling the story in a good way. I tend to prefer RPG's like KOTOR 1...

    Do you code?

Only when I have to.... not particularly good. Mostly just steal other people's clever work, botch it together and compile it until it works. The few times I code something from scratch it takes me aeons. C++, C shell, Java, Perl. I'd love to be better at coding but it's a huge timesink. I...

    Who are all you people?

I come here on and off. This place really hates Bethesda, which is kind of sad since I like both Oblivion and Skyrim. Skyrim in particular, with some mods. Oh, yeah... tasty, tasty mods. For Skyrim, great game. But other than that this place really understands what was great about Fallout 1...

    Is Baldur's Gate boring?

I loved Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and they get a lot more interesting with the expansions installed. Durlag's Tower in BG1 makes the game much more interesting IMO, and Throne of Bhaal is a fantastic send off to the series. I played BG1 and BG2 from start to finish and carried over the save game...
