    Grand Strategy Games

What specifically don't you like about HOI2? There are many flaws and such, but for a game that's so complex they're tolerable. If you get HOI 2, and the Doomsday and Armageddon expansions (which are very cheap), the game is great. Even better with some of the long-term mod projects like the...

Some odd "holes" in Fallout 3

There's a big difference between a nuclear blast hitting a massive steel door, and an organized attempt to breach to door with tools and high explosives. Even a door designed to take a direct nuclear blast can and will fail if you drill into it's mechanism and pack that hole with explosives.

    Left 4 Dead gone gold

I think this is just referring to the "special" infected. As for the "lack" of story, I think that's a minor point. The campaigns are fairly unique settings, the characters and thier banter are GREAT, the director kicks butt in its attempt to create a "narrative" for each run through... The...

    Left 4 Dead gone gold

My Steam ID is the same as my user name: LogisticEarth I'm all about sticking with the group, and forming proper arcs of fire and whatnot.

    Left 4 Dead gone gold

Well for me, the Director is keeping things fresh, and I'm sure there's all sorts of little quirks and such that take a few play-throughs to find. Considering that each play through of a campaign takes about an hour for me on Advanced so far, and will probably take longer on Expert. Each play...

    Left 4 Dead gone gold

While that would have been nice, I think with the number of characters on screen it would have been a resource hog to work the AI and animated all that. Laying into a horde at close range with the semi-auto shotgun is still pretty damn satisfying. That said, I've seen zombies leaning with...

    Left 4 Dead gone gold

I was very skeptical about the game becoming a run n' gun twitchfest with the inclusion of fast zombies, and, it kind of is, but it's deeper than that. I'm extremely satisfied with the game so far. As long as you get some non-assholes to play with, it can be very tactical. It's not Rainbow...

So, uh, did anyone like it?

This is generally how I feel. I'd be FAR more receptive of the game if Bethesda had just set out to make a general sandbox post-apoc game that had a similar setting to Fallout. But every time I play it as a "Fallout" game I get extremely dissapointed, because it's basically whatever game they...

    What to do with Harold?

Personally I'm just ignoring the whole thing as non-canon. I can't believe they pulled something so ridiculous as making Harold into a talking tree...

Some odd "holes" in Fallout 3

Is this a joke or not? Just wondering, because the batteries they show hooked up to the lights and such are very clearly the lead-acid batteries used in common cars. Bethseda re-deisgned the micro-fusion cells to be little battery-like things instead of the big power-pack type batteries they...

Some odd "holes" in Fallout 3

I think that maybe the new computers are powered by TNT or something, given how some of them will spark for a second then explode and deal out grenade-like damage.

Some odd "holes" in Fallout 3

Vaccum tubes, however, are notoriously fickle and burn out fairly frequently, just like lightbulbs. A non-maintained vaccum tube computer would burn out well before the storyline comes along. And regardless of EMP effects, it still doesn't explain why every local corner store has a working...

    What the hell? Communist... (spoilers)

1.) I would think that, being an infiltration unit, a lot of them should know English, or at least have an abundance of translators. 2.) 200 years is plenty of time to learn even rudimentary functional English. I mean, the Chinese in San Fran in Fallout 2 were supposed to be the decendents...

Some odd "holes" in Fallout 3

I think this is the main source of most of FO3's problems: Immaturity among the producers and devlopers. This is why they think a "mature" game is about violence, and not complex or gritty plots or themes, etc. Even the special "Intelligence" dialogs are such a letdown. In the originals, the...

    How Power Armour Should've Worked

I know I successfully ambushed the meeting once, it took me a couple tries, but I think I used the CAWS (maybe?), .223 pistol, and a few frag grenades. It really takes some luck, and eye shots. See, that's also where having eye-shots makes sense. In power armor, one of the only weak points...

Some odd "holes" in Fallout 3

1.) Beth just messed up bigtime with a realistic, 200 year-post-war environment. There's ammo, food, nuka cola, etc. EVERYWHERE. And for some reason there's craploads of chinese militar gear also. Just lack of attention to detail/laziness. 2.) Again, same thing I think, lack of attention...
