    The end of Fallout3...again

I can't even imagine how they feel. Two games in a row into which they've poured all of that effort without a title on the shelf to show for it. I really, really hope that their next jobs are significantly more rewarding. They deserve much better than this.

    The end of Fallout3...again

Thanks for the terrific Fallout 3 coverage while it lasted, NMA news team. The game seemed to be shaping up nicely, and, though its cancellation isn't particularly surprising, it's still a real disappointment.

    New Design

The new site looks snazzy. I like the Indiana Jones font, and the graphic even reminds me of the closing warehouse scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark, albeit with a bit of a sci-fi twist. I do miss the old happy family Fallout picture, but the new title looks good as well.

Who has ever bought Iplay stock ?

IPLY trades on the OTCBB. http://www.otcbb.com/asp/quotes.asp?Quotes=iply&Bullet.x=22&Bullet.y=10 There may be a great deal of movement on this stock this week and/or next, providing the potential for some short-term gains.

    Yay Talking heads!

I'm happy to see that talking heads still appear to be a possibility in the new game. I really thought that the the talking heads in the first two games made the dialog much more immersive and entertaining. :D

    The end of a dream?

Titus holds a majority of Interplay's shares. While Titus doesn't have complete ownership of the company, they hold sufficient voting power to control it... http://finance.yahoo.com/q/mh?s=IPLY.OB I believe that Vivendi Universal at one point held a relatively small percentage of...

    Sawyer and Cain

Hey, somebody made a really great post over on the Interplay boards nailing down some of the specific problems and frustrations from a couple of other dual combat systems. Hopefully Black Isle's designers take some of those things into account! (Thanks, DarkUnderlord! Excellent post. )

JE talks about VB's target audience

Do you really feel that skills, stats, traits, and perks are at the core of what Fallout is? My understanding is that Fallout was originally intended to use the GURPS system, but that the designers altered the rules to the current SPECIAL system because they couldn't obtain the rights to use...

    Sawyer and Cain

I realize that, and I mentioned over on the Interplay forums that I have concerns myself due to the Arcanum experience. However, I don't think that Mr. Sawyer has any choice in the matter, and I also don't think that because one game did it poorly, that it can't be done reasonably well. For...

    Sawyer and Cain

^ I hope that comes across as it's intended. Troika and Black Isle are two of my favorite game developers, and I have a great deal of respect for both Mr. Cain and Mr. Sawyer. It just frustrates me when I see what appears to be a view that Troika can do no wrong, while Black Isle can do no...

JE talks about VB's target audience

I agree, and I think that's exactly what Black Isle is trying to do. To me, at least, the things that are most important about Fallout are the setting, the multiple paths through the game, the way that the game world reacts to the character and choices that the player makes, the non-linearity...

    InXile acquires Wasteland

Briosafreak is right. Prior to the InXile filing, Electronic Arts appears to have held the Wasteland trademark. Same with Bard's Tale.

    Sawyer and Cain

I thought that I'd add a little information to the paragraph above... BIS makes a bunch of DnD games with real-time combat. Troika makes an original game with both turn-based and real-time combat. Everyone pisses about an eventual Fallout 3 with real-time combat. Troika tries to get the...
