This game is great, and I'm only two missions in. The first thing I did was switch off the auto-aim crap, and for the boring third person shooter with a cover system, the shooting mechanics are awesome. Also, I've found the AI to be pretty smart so far, at least with flanking and taking cover...

But what separates this from other recent cases is that the officer seems to have been quickly arrested and charged, I assume he'll probably do jail time as well.

The point of this is that the officer probably used race as a determining factor in deciding to use lethal force, would he have done the same thing to someone looking for help that he thought looked like him? I'd guess no, otherwise we'd have a lot more manslaughter cases.

And the reviews are coming in. 98% metacritic for xbox 360, 97% for PS3. Decided to order one for PS3 tomorrow.

Surprised about the complaints about MGS being unrealistic, it's a fantasy game with intentionaly absurd characters. Kojima is also a master troll, so I wouldn't be surprised if Quiet plays into that. I really don't think the series has plummeted much at all, Peace Walker was great.

The main difference is the player doing it. Fallouts were great because killing children was never necessary but sometimes useful, and the penalties were always severe. You can kill kids in Deus Ex Invisible War but nobody ever mentions it.

I really think it's best to read the first two. I thought the third was really bad, bad enough to stop me from reading the rest of the titles. You can treat the first book as it's own story, which it is, but there is a lot of foreshadowing of events that occur in Messiah. Messiah also...

I thought the first two Halos were excellent, especially when played on Legendary difficulty. While the AI being excellent is a bit overhyped, I found it to be some of the best FPS single player gaming on any medium.

Yes, I hope they really take into consideration the improvements Red Dead Redemption had over GTA IV, though I loved both games. For one I assume they removed the annoying Friends system.

I haven't played Saints Row, but yes, this is very much an urban sandbox game, one with a world that doesn't really respond with long term consequences. However, I find the sandbox play fun, and the writing to be pretty top notch satire and hilarious.
