Pick up some post-apocalyptic shooters for cheap

Someone did actually make a turn-based WH40K game for the DS & PSP recently called WH40K: Squad Command. Unfortunately it didn't review too well. Never having played it myself, I can't really comment.

Fireside Chat: Alpha Protocol reception and New Vegas

Alpha Protocol does have, quite possibly, the worst tutorial intro to a great game since Fallout 2. One you get past that, yeah, okay, the graphics aren't anything special, but there's enough there to keep you happy, with lots of potential for replaying. But that intro is just AWFUL.

D'oh, ignore my news submission about this. For some reason, the front page didn't refresh for me this morning :E

    Todd Howard talks

That was Splash Damage, who are also now a part of the Zenimax stable. In fact, they were gobbled up by them a couple of months before id.

    Rage Trailer

Yeah, because Doom, Doom 2, Quake, Quake 2 and Quake 3 were terrible games, right? God, I hate this accusation of id. It's completely baseless, and yet has permeated the internet completely.

Fallout 3 50% off on Steam

Yup, still not enough to tempt me. I'm going to wait until I can find the PC version second-hand somewhere like CEX for a fiver to ensure none of my hard-earned goes to Bethesda at all.

Fallout Trilogy hits NPD top 10 best-selling PC games

Shit, ignore my news submission regarding this. I refreshed NMA and because a Broken Steel review summary was top of the page, I assumed no news had been posted since I last checked. Doh.

What we'd like to see in New Vegas?

Completely new animations. A second vote for Groin Shots, but also bring back Eye Shots. Oh, and I say get rid of weapon degradation completely. It wasn't in the original Fallout games, they were just too lazy to remove the code from Oblivion.

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #47

Not just the Edge review; scores have been quite low overall compared to other releases. Having said that though, I'm finding myself taking a much more "Wait & See" attitude with games at the moment. Almost everything that's currently released is scoring 9-10, and that just makes me...

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #47

    By the way, apparently Edge gives Fallout 3 a 7/10. This months Edge scores: Left 4 Dead - 9 Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts - 7 Gears of War 2 - 9 Fallout 3 - 7 Call of Duty: World at War - 6 Resistance 2 - 6 Mirror's Edge - 5 Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning - 7 007: Quantum of...

    IGN UK reviews Fallout 3

All these reviews, and so far I've not seen one that emphasises comparisons with Fallout over Oblivion. It's all "They've done x better since Oblivion", with a perfunctory "Well, it has the atmosphere of Fallout". No actual gameplay, mechanics or quest comparisons at all. Until I see such a...

    GamingExcellence previews Fallout 3

Regarding audio, it's one of my major conundrums with Fallout 3. I really like Mark Lampert from the few interviews I've seen with him; he's a down-to-earth, genuine kinda guy. And yet, the end result in Bethesda games is always rather disappointing. He's the dev I like criticizing the least...

    Emil comments on V.A.T.S.

The depressing thing is, on one of the forums I visit where I consider the users to be of a high degree of competence and intelligence (the majority work in the industry, including Lionhead devs, Realtime Worlds devs, etc.), every one of them is really keen to be playing Fallout 3, and very few...

Guys, I'll donate cash to have you buy Fallout 3 from the Second-Hand rack. I want to see a NMA review.

    Fallout 3 pirated, videos spread

Also, no matter what you think of the game, Doom 3's animation is excellent. An ex-Pixar guy was responsible for it.

Swedish PC Gamer reviews Fallout 3

Damn, I'd forgotten about that, and the sad fact of the matter is that you raising this makes me realise it's not even a joke. If Bethesda did make rubble a physics object, that's exactly what would happen.

Swedish PC Gamer reviews Fallout 3

Look, they have Havok built in to Fallout 3, right? Then it should have been easy for them to assign blocks of rubble physics values so that when a large enough explosion went off, the rubble would move. Most modern games with a physics system do this. Half Life 2, Max Payne 2, GTA IV, etc...

Eurogamer previews Fallout 3 yet again

I think the lock-picking point can best be illustrated by comparing it to an identical situation in the original games or Arcanum: you break in to a building in plain sight, someone is going to do their best to fuck your shit up, and this is in a game that is over 10 years old as Bethesda are...
