EA fucked some of the greatest developers like Looking Glass, Bull Frog, Jane's Combat Simulations, Westwood and, of course, Origin.
EA try to get all the games market for PC and they only wants "casual" games, so, I don't expect anything good from EA.
I don't remember a good game from EA...
I recommend you Arcanum, Baldur's Gate series, Morrowid + expansions (if you download some great plug ins), Ultima VII (use Exult for playing it), Ultima IX now that there is machines for moving it, Neverwinter Nights if you like multiplayer, Vampire Bloodlines if you have a powerful computer...
I recommend you Dangerous Waters from the Subcommand creators.

I wish that Oblivion be a great game and mantais the editor from Morrowind.
Also, I have good vibrations with Dragon Age, from Bioware. and I'm really interested in Dark and Light adter Wish were cancelled.
The Fall is not a bad option, but spanish version sucks, it's a whole bug and...
I thought that 6 millions sold the BG2 + Expansion, anyway, 2 million units is a lot, for this kind of game. I wish Fallout had soldl 2 million units...
I don't like it, but I have to agree with Rambo in this isue. Ultima VIII was the worst Ultima game, it had good points, but it lost the Ultima essence.
Anyway, the true renaissance of the CRPG's was Baldur's Gate, and not becuse it was better than Fallout (of course not), simply because it...
However, the influence usually means sales. If a game sells millions, many clones will appear. Unfortunately, Fallout did not sell a lot, too much clever for the majority.
You forgot the Ultima Series, especially Ultima VII.
I do not speak englisg well, but I think that influence means "cloning" or something like that, by example, Gauntlet had a lot of influence in many other Arcade games.
But I don't care the influence of Fallout, it's one of the best RPG...
EA sucks, their games are pure commercial shit , so, I suppose that this one is not going to be different.
EA wants to be the Micro$oft for the games industry.
I think that the solution for independent (and imaginative) developers is to sell the games across Internet , this market is going to be more commercial every year and there is not place for clever games in a commercial world.

May be if publihers promoted this kind of games, average gamers would buy it. In Spain, Vampire was released in english, same for Arcanum and that was a publisher fault. Vampire would sell much more in my country if they released the game finished, without bugs and translated into spanish. Not...
I forgot I-War series... the first Unreal, Duke Nukem, the first Alone in the Dark, the first Prince of Persia, Knight Lore (Spectrum), Elite, Baldur's Gate, Falcon IV, Jane's Longbow 2, Populous, Dungeon Keeper 2, Myth series, Flashback... too many
Impossible for me to make a list, I play since 1977... too many games, too many years... I'll try with the more recent games (not for order)
- Fallout
- Ultima VII
- Ultima Online
- System Shock II
- Deus Ex
- Operation Flashpoint
- IL2 Sturmovik series
- Morrowind
- Neverwinter...
