Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

Perhaps I'm mistaken and it was a motion sensor instead. But I do remember that it was some sort of battery operated sensor which I received either by quest or encounter. I distinctly recall neither finding the item nor purchasing it at one of the shops. I searched the forums about the issue...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

No hard feelings, TwinkieGorilla. Normally, I'd know better than to poke fun at a Forum Orderite, but in this case I simply couldn't resist. Then again, perhaps I merely enjoy living dangerously.

Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

Thanks for the explanation, Darek. That quest/encounter-related Geiger counter is especially difficult to sell. According to threads on the subject, it's questionable whether this item can be bartered at all. Then again, I never actually bothered to check its battery level either. The fact...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

Another possible bug vs. feature issue. IIRC, FO2 contains a few 'unsellable,' non-unique quest/encounter-related items, such as the Geiger counter, motion sensor and stealth boy. They won't stack up in the inventory (even when turned off) and shopkeepers refuse to purchase them. I've read...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Thanks, I wrote it between fits of laughter prompted by your response to encinodude. I don't know how anyone managed to keep a straight face while reading those "lit flare" postings. An instant classic. I almost peed my pants. It's just begging to be added to the wiki: "Shopkeepers seem...

 You people are really cracking me up today. Thanks for brightening up my drab Sunday evening!

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

ROFL! Imagine the following dialog: Shopkeeper (staring at burning flares on counter): "I'm sorry, but I don't buy lit flares." The Chosen One (placing a bundle of primed dynamite on counter): "Ok, how about this, then? Shopkeeper (ducks behind counter): "Thanks, but I'm not interested in...

Ads on F2RP Tech Info wiki A bulletin from the Marginally Interesting Info Department: I've just received a message from Wikipedia regarding upcoming changes. Among other things, they plan to plant ads on all main wiki pages. It was bound to happen sooner or later, I guess.

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

You old sleuth, Darek! How'd you manage to figure that one out? @ killap Don't want to seem nit-picky, but shouldn't "Slaver's Camp" read "Slavers' Camp" (with a plural, trailing apostrophe) since there are numerous slavers on the map?

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

@ killap Keeping track of small fixes via a three-digit version number is a great idea. Also, quite a few bug reports were submitted by people playing outdated RP versions. An in-game reference (such as the rock behind Klint in your Unofficial FO2 Patch) could help determine they've actually...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

@ killap The 'art_cache_size' fix and r/o attribute check of proto folder files are still mentioned in the wiki. IIRC, both issues were rectified in your latest release. I'd like the delete those sub-topics, unless there's a possibility of encountering those problems after manually installing...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

We keeping you busy today, killap? I've located the sources of all included mods except removal of the random element from party member leveling. Is this your work?

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Killap, where can I find a list of mods you've packaged in your latest installer? I've checked the RP documentation, but couldn't find anything relevant. I'd like to include a list in the FO Mod Wiki's RP 1.2 section. Thanks.

    Where Is That Walkthrough

Yes, I'll admit I appreciate your walkthrough as well, Morticia. Hopefully, you're busy incorporating the latest RP 1.2 changes and bug-fixes into the documentation. :)

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

I agree with tomten, killap. In fact, I was going to suggest your reviewing and deleting squashed bugs from the wiki after releasing RP 1.2, but it seems you've beat me to it. Anyway, thanks for another fine release, killap. We all owe you one. Just like Klaus Voormann is considered the...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project (v1.1) Suggestions

I agree. End-game weapons shouldn't be placed on mid-game maps. It's naïve to assume players will simply ignore high-end weapons they discover.

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Dunno what OS you're using, but the Fallout Screen Refresh often cures blackouts under XP. Otherwise I suggest feeding your NPCs fewer chems. ;-)

Fallout 2 Restoration Project (v1.1) Suggestions

Partly my bad. I "confirmed" reports whenever I found a second post backing up the original complaint. I also "confirmed" a few "no brainers" such as typos and garbled dialog lines. From now on I'll transcribe all reports as "unconfirmed" until killap acknowledges them as valid.

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

On second reading, you're right, Darek. The acute subtlety completely sailed past me. Wish one could increase PE in real life as easily as in FO's character creation screen. ;-) Nevertheless, it wouldn't hurt if Per rephrased the statement to emphasize the quest's one-chance only characteristic...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Thanks for taking the time to check the script, Darek. The programming seems clean but, as you suggest, that's not saying the one-shot chance wasn't an oversight by the devs after all. Granted, I can easily live with the quest's present state, now that I know how it works. Nevertheless, it'll...
