Age of Decadence - the real crpg in the spirit of Fallout 2

Re: wat I'll start at the end: For *you* the fallout games were not defined by companions (although I never used the term "defined", you added that, I find their mere *absence* to be not in the spirit of Fallout), but for *me* the stories of Cassidy, Ian, Dogmeat and others were central to...

Age of Decadence - the real crpg in the spirit of Fallout 2

wat Ok, so, it's on me to be confused as to your mash-up of 3 genres, not on you for failing to adequately explain it? And I have to shell out $25 to find out whether it ever starts to make sense? Got it. Pass. Now you're being deliberately obtuse. I was talking about what *I* expected...

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Seriously, my opinion is my opinion, it's not gonna change for having you insult me, so why even bother posting it. Guessing you work for them, or you've been following the game for the 10 years or so it's been in development. I actually liked parts of Skyrim, it was some nice eye-candy and...

    Turn-based multiplayer game reccomendations?

I've played several multiplayer games of Civ V, and found it very enjoyable and mostly stable lol. It's truly turnbased, but obviously a strategy game, although you do have various victory conditions so it's like you are "role playing" an entire nation, going for culture, conquest or tech wins...

Age of Decadence - the real crpg in the spirit of Fallout 2

l said "stats and skills", not "perks/traits", AoD doesn't have perks/traits. FO stats and skills do make sense, raising them yields predictable results. AoD has a skill called disguise that is actually just persuasion2/acting, doesn't require actual disguises, except sometimes it does... etc...

Age of Decadence - the real crpg in the spirit of Fallout 2

yeah, about that... Played the demo, really disliked it. Fallout stats and skills made sense, predictable things happened when you raised them, tooltips did a good job explaining what the vault guide didn't (and damn that was a great manual!). AoD is like the frustrating autistic younger...

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Blackguards - Chapter 1, very fun, still beta but not so much RPG as tactical, nice graphics, friendly devs on Steam. Age of Decadence - A game I was looking forward to, demo play is not so good, GUI kinda meh, looks like fallout, namechecks fallout, is not fallout :( Plus the dev on the...

What will be the canon ending of New Vegas?

I think the canonical ending will have to be a stalemated conflict, with both NCR and Legion retreating after both realize how overextended they are and unready for an all-out war (despite what Caesar thinks, his primary strategist was pretty willing to concede that point and go home without a...

    Chief Hanlon *possible spoilers*

I let him keep on with his plan, since I was independent and wanted the NCR and Ceasar both gone after battle... He lived, retired, and then ran and won election as a Senator to battle corruption in the NCR. I think it might be the best ending he gets (No Gods, No Monsters; Agree to keep...

    Father Elijah? **spoilers**

I found him: [spoiler:4d99440f28] He is through the Northern Passage in north extreme of the map. I rode there on my wind-brahmin. (Epic mount, surprisingly affordable).[/spoiler:4d99440f28]

    New Vegas vs. FO3 humor

I'm getting a kick out of all these examples. The funniest though is my wind-brahmin steed, it is freaking epic. Who said there were no mounts in this game?!? Worth every cap... "Crazy? Crazy with low-prices on Wind-Brahmin! You buy one!" Between that and the morbid humor of Vault 11...

is it me or the map a bit small......

NV feels like a bigger map to me, just because when I was playing FO 3, I always got the feeling that there was nothing beyond the main storyline to pursue, I never really felt gratified by exploring outside the bounds of the mainstoryline, because there just wasn't much effort put into world...

who did you side with on your first playthrough

I sided with Yes Man, simply because he was voiced by Dave Foley (Kids in the Hall!) and I got a kick out of his slavish-yet-sarcastic delivery. I think Foley's Yes-Man is my new favorite fallout character, topping everyone from FO 1,2. Fallout 3 barely had characters. My second favorite...

    Action Strategy games

Don't have anything new to add to the above, except: The new UFO: whatever, game that was supposed to be based on the X-com franchise blew chunks bigtime. terrible story, boring tech research, impossible maps, bad play balance (you'd go from wasting everything on the map to being wiped out...

    What's your favorite drinking game.

Some people called it "presidents and a**holes"....we just called it "a**hole". Most people probably know it but it works like this (just in case you missed the best social drinking game ever) 1 or 2 decks of playing cards (ideally people should have ~11+ cards, so add a deck if you have...

Ok, reinstalling to humongous and only loading 1.05 + update did the trick, Thanks!

Den map probs still, using patch 1.05

I should mention then that I played this game all the way through on this copy of the game with no errors like this, I just recently dusted it off when I found that people here had kept improving it since I last played (yay you guys!) So I think it's safe to say that it's probably a mod...

Den map probs still, using patch 1.05

I still get error messages when I save/load in the Den, effectively killing those saves. I'm running windows 98/se on intel 1 gig/512 ram, nvidia 64ddr. Had no problems installing and playing all the way through to the den, but now I can't save there. Got the update, still no joy, is...
