    Weird Emails from Myself

As little as possible. To upgrade OS; to recover from a really nasty virus which would take forever to clean; after installing new hardware (something major like a mobo change would do it). And I only ever format the OS partition, never the whole drive, ever.

Windows 7 to replace Vista, try out the beta

I suspect what you're referring to is MS packaging VirtualPC with some versions of win7. This will not play games, since the emulated gfx card is an s3 virge (not even a 3d card). That said, I have yet to find a Windows game that win7 has been unable to play (64-bit version as well)...

    Weird Emails from Myself

Btw, OP. Never trust the sender to be who it says. It is beyond easy to make an email appear to have originated from wherever you want. I used to receive dozens of emails a day from 'myself', but of course they were not, they just inserted my email address into the "sender" field.

    Trico (Ico 3, SotC 2)

True. I got a 360 soley for GoW, which was a great game, but it only took a couple of months for me to regret paying full-price for the console. Still, I made about 50% of the money back when I sold it on. Not going to make the same mistake again, which is why I'm waiting for the PS3 price...

    Trico (Ico 3, SotC 2)

MGS4 is worth buying a PS3 for alone. However, I'll be waiting for system prices to fall before I (inevitably) pick one up. Briefling scanning through that list I'm not sure I'd describe many of them as AAA games, however...

    Trico (Ico 3, SotC 2)

    1. Not being interested (at the time) in any of the up-coming releases. 2. Noise. 3. Knowing that the failure rate was about 30%. The person I sold it to got the red ring of death shortly afterwards. Fortunately I had given him the receipt, and he was able to get a replacement. The noise...

    Trico (Ico 3, SotC 2)

well, psthree might not be too far away. sold my 360 shortly after buying it, and i'm getting a pretty strong urge to pick up a slimline ps3 if they release it at a reasonable price. the biggest problem with the ps3 has always been the weak games line-up, but hopefully they'll get some...

Looking around / new&old PC games I shouldn't have misse

Well, like an idiot, I thought I'd try MG1 & MG2 (1987, MSX), to get some idea of the back story for MGS. Unfortunately, it's not 1987 anymore, and I can't bring myself to play something so dated and mind-bogglingly difficult. You enter a room and have like 0.02 seconds to react before a...

Looking around / new&old PC games I shouldn't have misse

Yeah actually you got me there. MGS2/3 are PS2 only (3 is fantastic, imho), and Front Mission 3 was PS2 also. Sadly I no longer have a PS2, since my brother "borrowed" it indefinitely ;) So yes, I'm after PC recommendations, but that list wasn't PC exclusive. Just to give a taste of the...

Looking around / new&old PC games I shouldn't have misse

TFTD had some brilliant bits (I loved the variety of terror missions; beaches, ports, ships) but ruined it all by being excessively tedious. For example, two-step missions for just about everything. Yuck. I don't mind the extra challenge, but not the way they did it. Hordes of lobstermen...

Looking around / new&old PC games I shouldn't have misse

I haven't followed PC games for ages now. I keep returning to a few old games from the 90's whenever I get the urge to play something. So I chose to post here to see what your collective tastes are, whilst helping me to find some gems I might have missed. Here are some PC games I *love*...

The real issues with Fallout 3, in my opinion.

One thing that bothered me was the levitation eye-bots. Levitating. They have working levitation machines. Anti-grav units. So why the hell does no one think to use an up-scaled version of the eye-bot drive for transportation craft? How hard could it be for the BoS to grab an eye-bot...

The real issues with Fallout 3, in my opinion.

What's his motivation to cross the ocean anyhow? Tenpenny Tower is nice, but it's not that nice. I'm sure there'd be a run-down tower somewhere in Britain/Ireland he could have squatted in :p

The real issues with Fallout 3, in my opinion.

Well he couldn't have come over before the war, or he'd be at least 200 years old. So that means he came over after the war. You know, the war that reduced the entire world to rubble? Or, maybe while DC is a wasteland, the rest of the world has recovered? Cruise ships running again? He's...

Gob, the bartender who knew my name.

You want to know something strange? The more time I spend thinking about FO3, the more I want to replay it and kill every single NPC dead. Because... because they deserve it. Or I could just buy a stress ball, I guess. It's a shame tho. A shame that the primary feeling towards all the NPCs...

Fallout 3 and Reflection on the Games Industry as a Whole

This is true. We also (we being the collective game-playing public) need to stop being such graphics whores. Especially kids. The first thing any of today's gen gamers talk about is "wow, cool grafix!" or "brah, those screenies suck". You show a game to a kid today and the only thing you...

99 Awesome screenshots from the Wasteland

I would never have called FO3's graphics bad. But I did find the bloom/HDR to be totally over-done in places. It was also weird, that you could turn left and right, and watch the sky get lighter/darker. I think that was also bloom bugging out. Mind you, I can't remember exactly what...

    Impressions thread for positive impressions

What? You got the option of asking Fawkes to go in? Maybe it's because I only had v1.0 installed, but I didn't even have a dialogue option to ask him. He just stood there tapping his foot with a grin on his face. I chose to kill my character as a symbolic gesture. I was finished with the...

    Impressions thread for positive impressions

Walls aren't unusual in a game world. Normally tho, those walls are... walls. DC didn't have walls, it had piles of rubble. No one has explained what makes a pile of rubble an impassable obstacle. It's not even a believable pile of rubble. It forms a perfect ring around DC and doesn't...

Fallout 3, Bioshock: Videogames or not?

Brilliant? Hardly. It was about as brilliant as someone saying "When you play tennis, have you noticed that you wilfully abide by the laws of the Lawn Tennis Association? Haha you have no choice but to obey!" It's so faux-intellectual it make my brain hurt. Being a "dumb shooter" isn't...
