    Guns or energy weapons?

I believe INT gifts far fewer skill points than we're used to, though. JE thought it was OP...

    Guns or energy weapons?

My aim's always been really to have a high INT talkie character, who is a bit of a gunslinger (hence 6 AGI). But I've read INT 9 is a bit OTT, so may just stick with no stat below 5. I was considering bumping CHA to 7 but at the moment there's not much info about how CHA and INT contribute to...

    Guns or energy weapons?

Am also looking at my SPECIAL character build. I've chosen 5 5 5 6 8 6 5, more for role-playing reasons than creating the best build (and I want to access as much dialogue as possible). Am considering removing a point from perception and putting into INT or CHA but I don't think that'll make...

    Guns or energy weapons?

Ya. Gone for Energy Weapons, Speech and Lockpick tagged. Science would have been more in keeping with the energy weapons theme but ... yeah. Everyone needs to be practical in the wasteland :P

    Guns or energy weapons?

I've settled on energy weapons. They're more 'me'. Now - lockpick or science... hm. Anyone know how necessary these skills are in NV? I remember lockpick was pretty essential in FO3, as there were a ton of locked doors (people's houses) that could lead to some interesting stuff.

    Guns or energy weapons?

As topic, really. I've always chosen energy weapons in FO1 and 2 but kind of have the urge to be a gunslinger. I just kind of got bored by blandness of regular weapons in the regular games - and they always seemed to be outclassed by energy weapons, late in the game. Anyone know if it's...

GameBanshee Fallout: New Vegas subsite launched

I asked Josh Sawyer 'If I want a talkie character in FO:NV, should I raise INT to 9+? Or is dialogue more based on the speech skill or CHA? Cheers' His reply: 'more based on speech but there are int unlocks' So... yeah. The numbers don't make INT a particularly appealing stat, but it might...

GameBanshee Fallout: New Vegas subsite launched

Though I seem to remember in FO2, a farmer in Klamath with whom you could have a special conversation if you had 9+ INT. I assumed that carried through the rest of the game. What did you need in terms of INT to get the most dialogue out of the Master and Frank Horrigan?

GameBanshee Fallout: New Vegas subsite launched

I kind of suck at RPG-maths. So is getting a high INT, in keeping with the talkie-character I'm after, not really worth it? I guess no one knows yet whether it affects dialogue, or whether it's better just to invest in speech.

GameBanshee Fallout: New Vegas subsite launched

Doesn't INT affect dialogue? Or is that mostly to do with the speech skill? I always make an optimum talkie character in FO games, and having a high INT was always a part of that for me.

NMA Contest: chance to go hands-on with Fallout: New Vegas

The expo was fun, though I didn't spend much time with New Vegas. It seemed almost silly showing that game off in an environment where almost everything else has the flashiest and latest graphics. It looked really dated and clunky and I imagine it will be punished for this in reviews...

NMA Contest: chance to go hands-on with Fallout: New Vegas

I might write something up if I'm particularly inspired by the game, which NMA would be welcome to publish. It was your competition, after all :) Though I imagine pretty much everything's been said about the demo on show. Maybe there'll be a dev or a PR guy there whom I can speak to.

Yeah, see you there guys... might be cool to organise some kind of meetup.

Fallout: New Vegas PC Gamer interview

I've actually pre-ordered NV now. I've seen enough to be more hopeful than not that it's genuinely a Fallout game, in the spirit of 1 and 2, game engine notwithstanding.

NMA Contest: chance to go hands-on with Fallout: New Vegas

I want a golden ticket! I live just outside London... I cant change my email on here to the correct one, for some reason. So if I win, letting me know via PM zould be preferable :)

Joshua E. Sawyer treks on in Formspring

He certainly says the right things. If FNV has a compelling, subtle story, told through gameplay, with actual, genuine themes, then I'll be very happy. I can handle VATs and all the other stuff. Well-written characters that respond to the PC... I'm cautiously optimistic.

    New Vegas debut trailer

I liked it, but gone are the days when I'd get hyped up by a preview cinematic. Also, while admittedly a minor point, I think the standard FO-intro formula may be suffering from diminishing returns for me - slow pan out from a TV screen accompanied by a fading 50s song and finishing with Ron...

Mothership Zeta trailer and dev diary

Meh, the trailer looked cool to me. Not particularly 'Fallout', but not much since FO2 has been.

    Jeff Gardiner and Anchorage screenshots

It's a shame that they've made it possible to become brilliant at everything, even at level 20. Raising the level cap seems kind of pointless. Unless they're tweaking the levelling/stat system, which I'd be pleasantly surprised to hear.
