AFAIK Fargo did some bad decisions himself in Interplay, and the Troika guys left before Interplay was taken over.

I think Fallout did this well. Super mutants and ghouls didn't run around and become buddies with everyone, deathclaws weren't cuddly and there were no aliens. Could only see a ghoul passing off as a human if in radiation clothing or something equally concealing, and even then barely...

Devin Townsend? Now that's a suprise. He could probably write ambient stuff if he wanted to. Torment was finished when Mark Morgan started composing, took him one or two weeks. They threw it in and shipped the game. Pretty good fit.
