General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I'm playing Civilization 4, Command & Conquer 3, Unreal Tournament 3 and Super Mario Galaxy these days. Also, I play through the new episodic games of Sam & Max whenever they become availiable.

    RED ALERT 3 BETA!

I was always a bigger fan of the RA-series than the Tiberium-series, and Red Alert is still my favourite RTS. RA2 was perhaps a bit over the top on the campyness, but it's not like the first RA was a very serious affair, with Einstein traveling back in time to kill Hitler. The game itself was...

Fallout on IGN's Top 100 Games List for 2007

Are you kidding? Tetris is probably the most flawless and addictive game ever made. I still boot up my old Gameboy to play this from time to time. It's one of the few games I would personally rate with a full 10/10.

Fallout on IGN's Top 100 Games List for 2007

It was indeed a big step forward in terms of console shooters, but it did nothing Unreal Tournament didn't do a few years before. I guess console-gamers without access to a PC must have thought of it as revolutionary. I'm happy to see Fallout so high on the list, beating games like World of...

Behemoth’s Skulls and Fallout 3 wallpaper

No, I think everyone agrees that the car door is useless against pretty much any ranged weapon.

Behemoth’s Skulls and Fallout 3 wallpaper

A wooden shield never stood much chance against a battleaxe either, but the idea was that the axe would get stuck in the shield, leaving it's wielder vulnerable. Hopefully it will be possible to close-combat your way through the game, as you could in FO1 and 2. By the same logic, no-one would...

A car door shield would, however, be useful in close combat.

    I like him.

Inside the Vault - Alan Nanes

Using GM's in Necromunda is, at best, optional, unlike Inquisitor, where a GM is required. The game certainly has more RPG elements than straightforward strategy games like Warhammer, but I would not go as far as calling it a strategy/rpg hybrid. A strategy game with RPG elements, perhaps - a...

Inside the Vault - Alan Nanes

I have to agree with Brother None on this issue. I played quite a bit of pen and paper RPGs about 8-10 years ago - I even worked as a profesional GM for schoolkids for a year. Never once did I, or anyone I knew, use miniatures when playing RPGs. Miniatures can be used when playing RPGs, but I...

    Fallout 3 Trailer

While I do agree with you, remember that both Fallout 1 and 2 (and tactics for that matter) featured a man in power armour on the box artwork.

Man, you have to press like a hundred buttons to get to the download on Fileshack - and every single page takes a week or so to load. And THEN there's a fifteen minute wait until the download starts.

Ugh... I'm downloading in 16 kbs. Are there any mirrors? Edit: And now it seems the videos are unavailiable again! My download was cancelled and my stream has stopped!

    Retro Sci Fi covers

If I remember correctly, the "Fantastic Stories" cover with the huge black robot was used in the first Back to the Future movie.
