This was to become my new mindless fragfest. I don't think I'll be buying it now, but I'm still curious as to what other surprises IW has in store for us.

I've played it. It's quite good. They've pretty much taken all the polish and features of Diablo II and added some new mechanics such as the pet along with the new visuals. Even the music and sounds resemble DII and plenty of elements are reused such as identify/town portal and keyboard...

Been trying to play Ultima VII on Exult. Being the graphics whore that I am, couldn't get into it after watching it run at 4FPS... Sniper Elite comes to mind, though with a WW2 setting.

I've played it. I'm only a few hours in, and there isn't much to complain about. Optimisation is great and framerates aren't an issue after downgrading to the 178.24 NVIDIA drivers - there aren't any loading times ingame either. Dialogue is surprisingly good, as is the voice acting although...

You'll also want to make sure that your PSU is adequate for the card. If it's too old you might have to upgrade that as well. Also, the 4890 might be worth considering if the price difference isn't too significant - here it's only about $40 more than the 1GB 4870.

On a Q6600 @2.8 it performed quite poorly as well, I had framerates dropping from 40-50 to 20 for no reason even at a moderate resolution, and it drops even further when the buildings start collapsing. There are some pretty memorable moments, but overall it's not much better than the average...
