Your favorite Fallout moment from F3

There's a spoiler tag at the start of the thread. The conversation with Eden struck me as a diluted, dumbed down clone of the Master conversation. Taking out raiders with the radio songs playing felt slightly Fallouty... for the first hour or two.

Dogmeat was better as a snack than as an ally.

Agreed, they're more liabilities than allies. A particularly memorable moment was when I was with Star Paladin something and stumbled into a raider compound. After killing the raiders, I saw an electrified cage with a Super Mutant Behemoth inside. And guess what... the stupid shit Star...

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #30

Giving 10/10 to a game with glaring flaws is simply inept. I wouldn't give Fallout 1 a perfect score.

    Day/Night Cycle

In my experience with other games timescale controls how fast the game runs... so put it above 1 and everything goes turbo, below 1 and it becomes slowmo.

What did Bethesda actually do better than Black Isle?

The licensed music was nice. Kind of reminded me of what the game should have been like.

    Raven Rock

He said that to me too. And when I entered the chamber and looked back... guess what, Fawkes had teleported in with me. Yeah, the plot is a total mess. But then again, they did make a GIANT FUCKING ROBOT that shoots lasers out of its eyes. Probably the worst deus ex machina I've seen in a game.

Something to think about. A few words about Fallout 3 .

The characters are practically all built around binary opposites. That works for something like KotOR... not Fallout. Compare it to Dead Space. Compare it to Mass Effect. Compare it to Far Cry 2. It doesn't look horrible, but it is certainly dated. Far Cry 2 has no loading times at all once...

How does F3 perform on your system?

Q6600, 9600GT, 3GB DDR2 667, Vista 32 bit, everything on stock. I get 50-80 FPS in most situations with most settings maxed (no AA/AF) at 1440*900, sometimes going down to about 30 in large battles. Try turning off AA, it's a huge performance drain. If that doesn't help, a newer CPU seems to...

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #18

Sometimes the bullshit that they churn out seriously scares me.

What did Bethesda actually do better than Black Isle?

Fallout had three variables which mitigated damage as well as resistances. Fallout 3 has one, a simple percentage reduction. Not to mention, power armour is nerfed to hell.

    Powerful weapons in FO3...

Edit: Yeah, it has an advantage of rate of fire, magazine size and AP usage. I guess the plasma weapons are for damage output in the energy weapons line.

    Powerful weapons in FO3...

Still, a high tech laser rifle dealing less damage than a hunting rifle is absurd. If it's DPS, then that makes it even less effective. As a long range weapon, it's about on the same level as the rifle in terms of damage, which feels quite underwhelming considering it's a mid to late game weapon.

    Powerful weapons in FO3...

The energy weapons I've gotten so far are next to useless. With around 70 small guns and energy weapons, a Laser Rifle in good repair is easily outdamaged by an assault rifle or SMG, or even a flamer although I have 15% in big guns.

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #17

And indeed, he's talking about it like it's a completely new franchise. Not that it isn't apt, but I hardly think the reviewer meant it in the right way.

Fallout 3. Is it really so bad?

From broken Radiant AI to broken scripting. Bethesda sure knows how to advance.

Follout 3 Cheatcodes (just for those who really need them)

Make sure you click on the door while in the console to make sure it's selected before typing 'unlock'. That command works on doors even when it says it needs a key.

    Modding ideas/suggestions

If it's possible, I think changing unkillable NPCs so that they stay unconscious until you heal them with a stimpack would offer a good compromise between realism and game balance.
