    Let's play Fallout: BOS

This looks so cheesy and trashy it might actually be fun as an arcade style shoot 'em up. I never bothered with it but i like the fact that it doesn't look like it's pretending to be an RPG, a Fallout sequel, or serious about anything, instead it looks totally honest about the fact that it's...

J.E. Sawyer on key dialogue writing concepts

For professional and good amateur writers, sure. I'm not sure videogame dialogues are usually written by professional writers. Sometimes they're not on par with good amateurs, either. As for the false options thing, i think he's referring more to situations like this: -Fetch me the...

    Fallout: New Vegas screenshots

The ghouls hiding in Necropolis' sewers were much like the ghouls of FO2.

OXM US also has a go at a New Vegas preview

i just hope it's an RPG with shooter intermissions, not the other way round. I know... high hopes...

Will you play Hardcore mode from the get go?

I usually start tactical games on normal/hard and action games on easy because learning to deftly handle the controls is the hardest part for me in games. From the look of it, hardcore mode adds more involvement to the tactical part of the game, while the difficulty setting in fallout 3...

Finnish magazine Pelit previews Fallout: New Vegas

I don't remember such a thing as "death animations" in fallout 3. all i remember was a) Enemy falls down like a puppet. or b) Enemy goes up then down like a puppet. or c) Enemy limb explodes due to critical hit, the rest of the body falls down like a puppet. or d)...

Finnish magazine Pelit previews Fallout: New Vegas

Apparently, there's some new info on New Vegas in the current issue of a Finnish magazine called Pelit. Obsidian's forums user Flouride cared to post about it here:<blockquote>Some new? info from Finnish gaming magazine Pelit: - Weapons have unique/individual qualities. Some cause critical...

German PC Games previews Fallout: New Vegas

Few magic clothes made a little sense by a far stretch of the imagination, like white robes giving a science bonus, or workers' jumpsuits giving a repair bonus, and most of them were horribly stupid, especially the ones altering primary stats. (How the fuck does wearing Lincoln's hat make one...

German PC Games previews Fallout: New Vegas

Turbo Plasma Rifle, LE BB gun, .223 Pistol, Mauser, Little Jesus, Louisville Slugger, were all unique weapons. You might argue some were a bit overpowered, but it's not like they didn't "fit in the FO universe" for some magical reason.

OXM responds to the Fallout community

IIRC if you save right before you open the vault you can still change the way your character looks. I think it's your character's sex you can't change. Still, it's lazy design because they could just provide with an option to start there, instead.

Developing a First Person 3d arkanoid clone

Double click the installer and it installs, opens gameplay instructions in the notepad and plays immediately. It's pretty streamlined. In the next update there will be a dialog thingy that will let you tinker with resolutions and frames per second. There is a myriad of 3d arkanoid clones...

Developing a First Person 3d arkanoid clone

Since no one but good ol' alec cared enough to answer my question ( ) i decided to go on with it, and there you have it. First Person 3D Arkanoid Clone with SDL and OpenGL for Windows and -soon- Linux. 12 levels, new enemies, moving crosshairs, explozions, what else might one ask...

    Chris Avellone talks Fallout 3

I know, that's the problem i'm talking about. You are forced to spend a very long time exploring empty spaces, and i think it would be possible to discover the same amount of content in much less time if a world-map travel system was used.

    Chris Avellone talks Fallout 3

Hmm, sorry i'm not being very clear. I'm not talking about adding random encounters. I meant something more like the option to always fast travel to the closest thing that would appear on your compass in the direction you're moving. Suppose the player wants to go to the location X which is in...

    Chris Avellone talks Fallout 3

Exactly. That's why the travelling dot on the world map is a better solution. I don't see why that wouldn't work for Fallout 3: You would be able to fast travel to any map marker, and any encounter, location or container on your course would just interrupt the fast travel. That way you...

OXM responds to the Fallout community

A newschool style consolified inventory system that worked very well for console as well as for PC was KOTOR2's. If fallout 3 followed that paradigm it would be so much better.

    Chris Avellone talks Fallout 3

I wasn't expecting that he would talk about something more substantial. Except maybe the beards. I wonder how Chris Avellone feels about Fallut 3's beards.
