Was I supposed to feel bad? (The Pitt DLC Discussion)

As a Pennsylvania resident, I can't tell you how relieved I am the only part of the series that takes place here actually does the state justice. People complain that the Pitt was short (and it was), but ultimately I think that helped the DLC retain some respect in the long run. What did exist...

    Fallout 76: E3 Trailer

Thanks for the update @TorontRayne. What an awful system. Most people like perks because you can think ahead and plan out a specific type of character. The game's 'long term decision making' in developer speak. Who wants to be limited to just three perk choices that a random number generator...

    I like fallout 3

Pretty sure half the people in this thread are actually 15 years old. I can't come up with any other explanation for the pages of schoolyard level arguing I just subjected myself to. Who fucking cares what someone thinks is the appropriate level of goofiness in a Fallout game? That's literally...

    I like fallout 3

All I'm saying is there are way worse characters than her out there to pick on. Like... an entire Capital Wasteland's worth. I suppose Moira is just the only one people can remember at this point, though. That and THREEEEEDAAAWWG. I just like the actor who voices Dr. 0. Any of the lines they...

    I like fallout 3

Say what you like about Moira, but she does have a distinct personality, tons of dialogue options, and even skill checks. She's arguably the most well written character in the game. (Which really isn't much of a contest to begin with, but still.) Dr. 0 (a.k.a. Dr. Venture) is my favorite.

    I like fallout 3

I'm just saying it works the same structurally. Fallout 3 even lets you skip massive chunks of the progession like the original games do. There's honestly not a lot you can fuck up with that kind of quest until the payoff, which is guess what: Seriously though, how does he survive? The...

    I like fallout 3

He has a point though, the lead up to Fallout 3's main quest isn't substantially worse than Fallout, Fallout 2, or New Vegas's. In basically every one of them you're following a trail of breadcrumbs to find something, whether that be a water chip, the G.E.C.K, your dad, or Benny.

Sequels that are at least debatbly better than their predecessors? (All genres and mediums)

You've got a point with the over abundance of Praxis Points. Even on the hardest difficulty, I felt like they were a little too generous with the upgrades in Human Revolution. Would have been nice to struggle for a while, plus that helps with replay value. The original had a lot of that. I just...

    I like fallout 3

Yeah. That is it. And that's a huge industry no-no. Changing the core user experience of an interactive property is taboo as hell. Can you imagine how fans would react if the sequel to Overwatch shipped as a top down, turn based strategy game? There would be riots. Bethesda made a mistake...

Sequels that are at least debatbly better than their predecessors? (All genres and mediums)

Yeah, I would have to agree with you on the reboot thing. That's probably the best way to describe what Human Revolution is to Deus Ex. Reminds me of how while I love the first two Mad Max movies to death, I also think that Fury Road is great in its own way. Strictly speaking gameplay, though...

    I like fallout 3

It is just a preference and they are two very different games. But here's the kicker. It's called Fallout 3. That name alone is essentially a promise to the player they will have a certain type of experience established by previous titles in the series. The developers didn't do that, though...

Was I supposed to feel bad? (The Pitt DLC Discussion)

Risewild might need to confirm this since it's been a while, but from what I remember Ashur's wife suffers heavily from peripheral character syndrome. Since she doesn't get a whole lot of time in the narrative, it's only natural for the player not to give a fuck if she lives or dies. She's...

    Bad movies you love?

Does your daughter still talk to you? :postviper: But seriously, I refuse to accept the fact that A Boy And His Dog is in any way shape or form comparable to Dark Star. Even as a crossover fan of John Carpenter, science fiction, comedy, and bad movies, I had to turn that shit off in the first...

    Future Fallout Power Armor Ideas

Why are Brotherhood of Steel members the exclusive fixers of power armor, though? What if one really smart guy figured out how to fabricate new joint servos in his garage or something? There would always be a universal incentive to innovate on defense technology in a reality where being attacked...

    Fallout 76: E3 Trailer

Many companies start out making great stuff as a passion, grow huge as a result, then creatively fold under the weight of their own administrative costs. The key to maintaining quality is smart, limited corporate expansion. Design leads should always get the final say on their projects, not...

    Fallout 76 Prediction Game

Agreed. I was more referring to Lovecraft's style of writing than cheeky shit like "HEY LOOK GUYS, CTHULHU! GET IT?"

    Fallout 76 Prediction Game

I actually think that's one of the better things Bethesda introduced to Fallout. Lovecraft is both timeless and sophisticated. Definitely going to be somewhere in 76, though. As a dumb Appalachian hick, I would just like to say this type of humor can be done very well by certain people. Nobody...

    Fallout 76: E3 Trailer

I would say it has more to do with branding at this point. You have to think of it from Zenimax's point of view. What is Fallout to the average person? Vault Boy, Mutants, Pip-Boys, Power Armor, and Ghouls. That's what the executives want to see in any new Fallout product above all else.

what is your favorite unique weapon in Fallout New Vegas?

If you ever want a good laugh, give that thing to Veronica. "FOR THE BROTHERHOOD." *One shots Deathclaw as it rockets off over the horizon.*

Sequels that are at least debatbly better than their predecessors? (All genres and mediums)

You're right in saying the sequel didn't tackle as many issues as the original did. I guess I was more willing to forgive Human Revolution since I liked the way they handled what topics they did bring up. Truthfully, I feel like it gave the game more of a thematic focus since the story...
