    Fallout 3 Censorship Report

Whatever the case, I think it's pretty half-assed. Having an improved version of Jet spread across the country doesn't sound much more plausible to me than the original getting around, if anything just all the more unlikely. Plus, come on, Ultrajet? How unoriginal can they get? There's a...

Guardian Fallout 3 interview, the follow-up

And another moronic design decision is made based on what "feels good", immersion and all that crap. Can't be bothered to make a dodge animation and the target audience cannot grasp the concept that a visual hit might not be a successful roll, so let's gimp melee altogether instead. Don't...

    New screenshots

I believe most people here were talking about actual bugs and glitches, like crashing to the desktop. But even if we were to talk about features, it's worthy of discussion wether or not modding them in or out is doing the devs' job. Let's take the level scaling, for an instance. It just might...

    Strategy Informer interviews Pete Hines

Maybe I shouldn't be going into the merits of this debate, because I'm of the admittedly radical opinion that "immersion" is nothing but a cheap and meaningless marketing buzzword. Either it means LARPing, as in Oblivion, or is merely a byproduct of a good game/book/movie/whatever which draws...

    Bit-tech plays Fallout 3

Wish I had played any D&D campaign that came close to how awesome the backstory for Diablo is :(. But I think the key word here is "gameplay", and not "story". Roguelikes play wildly different from games like Fallout, and using the same term for describing both types of game makes little...

    X360A hands-on

I don't even know about that, after that recent previewer managed to kill two or three Super Mutants at a measly level 3. Sure, it sounds better than Oblivion (hard not to), but I'm not willing to believe that just yet.

Guy on blog: let's be mean to Bethesda

There are two frequently argued motives for Beth having purchased the rights to Fallout. Their stated reason is that they are such huge fans and wanted to make a sequel, which lines up with your thinking, while the other reason people usually bring up is that it was simply a business-driven...

Guy on blog: let's be mean to Bethesda

That's pretty debatable from a lot of different angles. First off, I'd argue that selling a game should not be a developer's job at all. If you work on creating something (like, say, games, movies, books, etc) your job is to make it as good as possible, and it's up to marketing to show it as...

Guy on blog: let's be mean to Bethesda

It does that to me too, except when I use a proxy. Don't know why this happens, though.

Gamespot UK plays Fallout 3 (again)

I guess my problem with this bit of dialogue, in turn, is that even despite whatever rewards each path might offer (be it in karma or items), they are far too clear-cut for my tastes, and also remind me a lot of the recent, more simplistic RPGs from Bioware. The fact that the choices here, in...

Gamespot UK plays Fallout 3 (again)

That kid sounds really mature, I wonder if the Virtuous Hooker of Megaton would do him despite his young age. Yeah, I find that snippet even more telling of the dialogues in Fallout 3 than the apparently gargantuan amounts of "fuck" being thrown around. You have quite clearly the good...

    Fallout 3 Hands-On #14

Yep. This old preview here, from Gamestar.de, and even older info from Gamespot. Only Fallout 2 had actual swords, though the Wakizashi behaved much like a knife in-game (maybe they mistook it for a tantō, or maybe just for the sake of reusing frames). I believe someone mentioned the yakuza...

    OXM outtakes hit blog

I think this is a very valid argument, as one shouldn't bash GTA for not having simulator-accurate driving or flying physics and controls, or for being a worse shooter than, say, Gears of War. In spreading the gameplay to various genres, the game cannot be expected to play like the...

    Fallout 3 Hands-On #14

You might be surprised at how few people here would dispute his point, but the real problem starts at where to draw this line on what is "true to the spirit of the original games". I don't think mutated bees or their giant cockroaches are major offenders (if offenders at all), but no matter...

    Game reactor interviews Todd Howard

If Tom Chick got anything right, his name is Gob. Plus, is the Saloon Moriarty's? Hadn't heard of that yet.

MTV Multiplayer Blog interviews Todd Howard

Apparently, Fallout is all about having a dog and a stalker after leaving a vault. At least the guy admits to not being a fan, which I guess is more honesty than we can ever expect from the good people at Bethesda. Wow. Dismissing the gameplay and mistaking setting for location? Just, wow.

    Fallout 3 Hands-On #13

Should it, now? I was under the impression that the quest compass is only second to the level scaling system on the "universally hated" scale. ... and that is, I believe, official confirmation that quest compass is indeed back annd works exactly the same.

Ask me your questions, Bridgekeeper. I am not afraid.

Sounds like Oblivion with Guns alright. Medicine will affect how many hit points are healed by using stimpacks. Personally, I find that as sucky as the "more skill=more damage done" approach to combat, but there it is.

    GamingTrend Fallout 3 hands-on preview

Some new info in there also, I think. Is the perk Todd can't talk about named "sandman", or did I hear it wrong? Plus, twenty bobbleheads being one for each stat? There has to be something iffy with his math or at least wording there.

This just in: some Australians are confused

Huh? How on Earth is that a fair summary of the game? The guy made it sound like using Psycho and shooting old ladies is the whole point of the game, which not only is ludicrous but still does not invalidate the R rating argument. Why couldn't adults decide for themselves wether to play a game...
