    Will Fallout 3 be remembered?

I think one could make a strong argument to the video game industry on old gamers vs. new gamers when it comes to the Nintendo Wii. The Wii has an incredibly anemic processor and GPU when compared to XBOX 360 and PS3. The Wii is intended, bottom up, to be more about innovation and gameplay than...

    Fallout 1-2-3 related game nostalgia/subjectivity

The problem with Fallout 3 as-is: minimal replay value The flaws with the current implementation of SPECIAL and the ease of raising many of your skills to max level make more than 2 or 3 playthroughs kinda useless. Unless you purposefully ignore certain skills or bobbleheads, its way to easy...

What did Bethesda actually do better than Black Isle?

I think I was more angered at the fact most of SPECIAL in FO3 is largely useless and/or homogenized. I think the biggest two blows to SPECIAL were unlinking STR reqs from weapons and bobbleheads. Also, tag skills don't feel as important a selection now :(

    A genuine, worthy sequel

VATS reduces incoming damage by 90% or so. Its more useful than you think. Close range its amazing, long range its kind of a liability. You are actually MORE accurate manually lining up a head shot with the Sniper Rifle, for example, than using vats with it. Sneaking + Manual aimed head shot...

I finished Fallout 3, these are my thoughts (Spoiler full)

I agree with the OP on animations. More specifically: I think the biggest "deal breaker" there for me was the decapitating 9mm bullets. First time I lobbed the head off one of the security guards at the vault with just a pistol I was like "holy fucking shit! WTF?". Then I quickly realized the...

    Hilarious video.

!!! LMAO How on earth did that happen?

    A genuine, worthy sequel

A few things: Anyone who blindly supports Beth and ignores the gaping holes in the plot needs to seriously reconsider their position. Don't get me wrong, Fallout 3 is a good game (I would give it a 7/10), but the glaring inconsistencies INTERNAL to its own design are just painful! Its one...

    Hilarious video.

"Radiant AI" at its best. You really wanna see the AI show its true level of intelligence? When someone is starting to chase you with a melee weapon, backpedal and drop a mine sometime. They don't even TRY to avoid stepping on the mine you laid out RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. :P

    Encounters of the wierd degree...

All NPCs have infinite ammo until death. Once you KILL (or pickpocket) the NPC, the game rolls the loot table to generate a random amount of ammo. Hows that for immersion killer?

Some odd "holes" in Fallout 3

This guy nailed it on the head. Aside from some of the game mechanics changes, the big change from FO1,2 to FO3 was the limited in depth RPG elements. The best example of this is the ending, which without giving any spoilers, pretty much forces you into only two real choices. Somehow it glazes...

    Hilarious video.

One time I got so ticked at the survival guide lady, I murdered her and used a pistol to surgically remove her limbs post mortim. I put her arms, legs and head on one of her shelves, and her mutilated torso on the workbench. There are some creative ways to be a complete sociopath as well if...

    How Power Armour Should've Worked

I think when / if they release the developer toolkit for modders people will be MUCH more satisfied with the game. As it is, most of the mods out there are extremely limited in scope compared to what people did with Oblivion. Without that toolkit not only is Fallout 3 "Oblivion with guns" its...

So, uh, did anyone like it?

Overall I liked it. I would rate it 7/10 on its own. As a Fallout, I give it about 3/10. Graphics & Sound are both 10/10 The amazing decapitating bullets, overused rag-doll physics for death animations, and inconsistencies drop my "Immersion" factor to about a 2/10. All of the hardcore...

Some odd "holes" in Fallout 3

I blame "Science!" It was "special" radiation. I won't give any spoilers, but everyone who beat the game knows what I'm talking about ;)

    How Power Armour Should've Worked

The agility penalty ruined power armor for me. A nerf to agility is a nerf to vats. A nerf to vats is pretty much a hardcore nerf to your character. Strength, as it only effects carry weight and melee damage, is not useful enough to trade agility off for. IMO if they bring back STR reqs on...

ok, so how do we make FO3 more "falloutesque"

[Request] A mod that makes FO3 more of a Fallout Well, I just finished FO3, and after reading through the many somewhat negative posts on here, I felt like posting more of a "solution" than a "complaint". FO3 is a good game, but not a "Good Fallout". I think most people can agree to that...

Hello! I have been a Fallout player since 2001. I never knew about these forums until about a year ago! I have played all FOs except FO: POS er BOS.
