    BioShock Infinite

Original is a stretch. It has pseudo big-daddies, pseudo plasmids, pseudo dystopia, same engine, same genre... It's a spiritual sequel/prequel with or without the Bioshock name. That seemed pretty obvious to me.

Why there are no ladders in Bethesda/Gamebryo games

I don't get this. What's so difficult about a ladder? The AI somewhat "reacts" to you being on a higher or lower level, what's so different about ladders? And why does he even stop two years to say they couldn't code something? Todd Howard is a master of trolling indeed.

    GameTrailers interviews Chris Avellone

It's probably like bloody mess. It doesn't have a big enough positive effect to warrant a negative one. And personally, it sounds like a stupid trait, but kudos to Obsidian for making dumbness toggleable.

    BioShock Infinite

What really bugs me about Bioshock Infinite is that they went on their way to say "Ken Levine's not doing a Bioshock sequel". What was the point of that? I loved how Bioshock had some philosofical ground to stand on but it got old really quick.

    Get out of here stalkers!

I don't like it either. Multiplatform is likely to mean no mods and mods have been gold for the STALKER games. I still have Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat to beat, but STALKER's yet another franchise that would hurt to see dumbed down.

    Fallout: New Vegas opening narration

It's only natural for generations raised outside of the science dogma we live in today to develop their own explanations for the mysteries surrounding them. And primitive humans have always started with pseudo religious answers. I like tribals, to me, they feel in place in the Fallout world.

    Fallout: New Vegas opening narration

It may be herecy but i could do without the "war. war never changes" line for once. It's been repeated so many times in Fallout 3 i think i need a break from it. Still, a great improvement over FO3's intro script.

    I... I just can't do it anymore

I share your displeasement wholeheartly and i think you're onto something with that Alpha Protocol/gaming journalism as trend definer article in your blog. The self-indulgingness of the gaming industry simply has to stop.

Fallout: New Vegas QuakeCon previews, #2

Pazaak was pretty great as far as i can remember. Thing all cool minigames have in common is that they're optional. Too bad few devs ever pick that up. Anyways, "very un-Fallout gap in game logic"? Oh, i'm sure these fervient Fallout-loving reviewers sure found Fallout 3 to be very ilogical...

    Hello, old friend

More wisdom in the eyes, less Shrek, please. It's funny how the resolution of the textures drops suddenly below the shoulders. I hope they do custom make the rest of the body. If super mutants NPCs can't wear armor, they should at least try not look as generic. But i do dig this fanservice.

New Vegas Voice Acting and Party Members Revealed

Bethesda just didn't put enough effort/money into making the characters look decent. Fawkes' face was indistinguishable from other super mutants'. That's just lazy.

Mafia: boring popamole or brilliant driving sim?

This is completely true. But i do think the driving does add something to the atmosphere, balancing out with the action parts, showing more of what's it like being in the mob. I don't think it was boring, since i've always enjoyed semi-unrealistic driving and the characters would talk with each...

Mafia: boring popamole or brilliant driving sim?

You're completely right when you say Mafia's closer to Max Payne than it is to GTA, and for that reason saying the game's too linear is not an exactly a valid complaint. If the core gameplay is boring to you, that's fine, but having an empty open world can't be boring itself. At worst you can...

How did you discover Fallout ?

My rich cousin used to go to the US about once a year and bring cool games with him. Amongst them, FO2. One look into the Enclave's power armor in the cover and i was hooked. He lent it to me and twelve years later, i haven't returned it :D

Did you "screwed up" on your first playthrough?

In Fallout 2 i gave the Wright children the unloaded gun for them to play with. Bright kids as they were, they got some live ammo and blowed their heads off, turning me into an unsuspected Child Killer. I still remember my surprise, entering Vault City and getting shot at for no apparent reason.

    Mafia 2

First review (PC Zone) gave it an 80%. Words "extreme linearity" and "10 hours" were tossed as complaints. Everything else, praised. Hypothesis: reviewer did not play Mafia 1.

Starcraft 2 - It is out there

Hype's the base on which most games sell nowadays (can't say about the old days, didn't check Kotaku as often :P) so that's not surprising. Hyped reviewers that give hyped scores to indulge hyped gamers' launch-day consumism. Gotta give SC2 a go, but with Mafia 2 around the corner, that...

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Try FO3 with FWE. It makes weapon skills not affect damage (zomg hardcore!), adds ammo weight, no-insta healing stimpaks, no stat-raising bobbleheads, all that New Vegas stuff and overall raises difficulty to an acceptable level. I'm playing with FWE default settings and FO3 on very hard diff...
