Fan Desire for Zelda Series to Copy Fallout 3

Cry me a river. I was fucking 7 when my parents bought me Ultima II. That game didn't tell me anything. In order to beat it, I had to run around and give money to anyone that seemed like an important NPC (they all only had one line of "dialog") in hopes that they would give me a necessary item...

Fan Desire for Zelda Series to Copy Fallout 3

That's part of why it's the best Zelda game. It doesn't have a ton of handholding. It has an old-school emphasis on exploration and a rare emphasis on exploring time as well as space. If you want to see everything in the game, then you need to need to explore everything. And if you don't want to...

    Interplay hiring, court filings

It's a collaboration. I would assume that some of the game will be designed by Masthead. And design does include managing the visuals.

Fallout: Between Good & Evil November Update

FO3 actually had some nice concept art, if you can remember back that far. The stuff from FOOL looks pretty rough.

Fan Desire for Zelda Series to Copy Fallout 3

I don't see how LoZ really needs to be more like FO3 in particular, but it would be nice to see some changes if someone at Nintendo has an interesting idea for a new game. Other than the original, Majora's Mask was the most note-worthy game in the series primarily because it was a departure from...

Project V13 Screenshots and more Concept Art

I think a comic style would actually be reasonable considering the feel of the first game. Otherwise, it looks like a very rough version of FO3.

    Misinformation presented in courtroom

That doesn't make sense to me. IP inked a deal with a third party behind Beth's back to develop the MMO. If Beth didn't stop that, then how could they stop them from recruiting investors? I don't know that IP is even accusing them of such a thing. I've only heard that IP is complaining that Beth...

    Misinformation presented in courtroom

I think IP deserves to sell the old titles, and Beth deserves to get the rights to the MMO back. And that's probably how it will end unless Zenimax gives IP some more money for the rights to the old games.

Project V13 concept art #2: Graveyard

Yeah, that was my thought after seeing the first one. It does look RF-PA to me (the other shot more than this one), though. And it's not really fair to compare it to Defonten's, because there was obviously less effort put into this (I hope).

    Interplay wins preliminary injunction hearing

I suspect that the dispute over the sale of the older games is just an attempt to step on Herve's throat in order to get the MMO rights back sooner rather than later. The fact that they couldn't get an injunction is probably disappointing, because it would've put immediate financial pressure on IP.

Interplay SEC filing on court filing

Well, it's got to be one or the other. Basically, they have to give it up if they didn't meet the milestones in the contract. And they failed to raise the cash.

Interplay SEC filing on court filing

That hasn't been decided yet. But I don't see how they will be able to keep it if they haven't raised the money.

Interplay SEC filing on court filing

No, the bugs would be forgivable too, at least to some extent. Bug testing is typically stuff that occurs at the end of development. But I've never heard that LA moved the date (from any reputable source), and I've read an interview from Avellone that suggested that he took responsibility...

Interplay SEC filing on court filing

I don't know if LA moved the release date up (which would absolve Obsidian) or if Obsidian tried to do too much within the short dev cycle that they agreed to. But the point is that a lot of stuff needs to happen between writing up some design docs and releasing a great game. You don't get a lot...

Interplay SEC filing on court filing

You have to be careful about your phrasing. VB could have been good. It also could have been a buggy and unfinished PoS. Ultimately, Sawyer doesn't deserve any credit for heading the development of a game that was "awesome" or offered the player a "staggering amount of choices." I'm sure...

Interplay SEC filing on court filing

I'm sure that this was part of the plan. I think we all knew that IP wouldn't raise the 30 million, and that this would end up in court. I think Sander is generally right on this one. If game development was as simple as coming up with some great design docs, then we'd probably be crowning the...

Interplay SEC filing on court filing

Obsidian probably isn't owed much. They are just a hired hand. I suspect that Beth could can the game at their discretion with little severance compensation. But it's pointless to even entertain those ideas. As far as I can tell, IP isn't even disputing the critical points of Bethesda's...

    Interplay v Bethesda court filings

I think it's outside the realm of possibility. The author is wrong on so many things that it comes off as sarcasm to me. You can't tell me that this isn't a joke:

F3 Game of the Year Edition with all DLC Announced

I'm actually not that impressed by their facemen. Pete and Todd aren't very well-spoken, and they do make errors. Pete in particular says some silly things. And Emil gives me the creeps. They do have a good script, though, and they are very good at presentations and demos.

Interplay rejects our reality and substitutes its own

I don't know if they can even make their own game at this point. They had to get Masthead to help with FO, and without FO they don't have much to offer Masthead. I guess they could offer an Earthworm Jim MMO.
