Regarding three silly reasons that Fallout 3 is Stupid.

Actually, this did already happen. It was in Star Trek episode 69 and the Enterprise had to try to find the real Captain amid all the meat smacking and geyser bursts. They also made a motion picture continuing the storyline: Star Trek III - The Search for Cock

    5 new gameplay videos

I plan on using VATS almost exclusively for combat to give the game a quasi-turnbased feel. I'm thinking of focusing on my agility and perception. Is this unrealistic? I don't mind shooting and then hiding to recharge AP, but do the enemies have that Oblivion physchic connection with their...

Shacknews interviews Pete Hines and Istvan Pely

I don't know if POS and Tactics were 'reinventions' as much as 'shallow spinoffs'. Fallout 1 did so many things right on so many levels to represent a PnP RPG experience that it is hard to match that depth. Tactics was a combat simulator, and POS was, well, a POS.

Fallout 3 looks majorly disappointing from demo clips

Except this one doesn't have dragons and fairies, and attempting to make an rpg realistic within the rules of its universe is perfectly acceptable. BTW, is that an Ultima 9 - Shrine Janitor avatar?

    CS for Fallout 3?

I definitely want a CS included with the game. I would love to work on mods for Fallout 3. With that being said, my fear is the engine (especially combat) may not be 'robust' enough. At the very least I hope it is fun, because if it is unbalanced, weak, and tedious to play I don't know if...

Fallout Combat Compared to Arcanum Combat

I agree. Fallout's combat system just seems 'tighter' and more robust. Due to the nerfing of guns in Arcanum, I chose to be a gunslinger, both for the challenge and the coolness that is schematics (I loved that addition by Troika). At first I thought the 'fatigue' idea was good, but then I...

Fallout Combat Compared to Arcanum Combat

I've always loved both Fallout and Arcanum - for they faithfulness to PnP, their character building, their rich stories, and interesting dialogue. However, when looking at combat, I find Arcanum lacking. And I'm trying to understand why. Arcanum seems to follow Fallout's turn-based...

    Interesting discussion at developer's request

@Requiem - I am trying to be careful with the distinction between FPS and FPP. I consider FPS (first person shooter) to include games such as Halo, Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein, Duke-Nukem, etc. I consider FPP (first person perspective) to be a more general term which simply notes the dominant...

    Interesting discussion at developer's request

Sorry if it sounded like complaining to you - that wasn't my intention. I knew it was FPP before I bought the game. My point was to say that even an FPP RPG from fantastic RPG makers can actually feel just like an FPS. I don't think PnP type CRPG combat should be twitch based. VtMB had stats...

    Interesting discussion at developer's request

Okay. So if the combat didn't feel 'FPS' to you, what did it feel closest to? Are you saying that if the camera 'bobbed' while moving without a weapon it would feel more real and hence make for better immersion? Or are you saying that FPP is always less immersive for you than another...

    Interesting discussion at developer's request

I agree with this. FPP true hardcore RPGs are possible. Reference, Vampire: Bloodlines. That is a fantastic RPG. The FPP is truly immersive when it is combined with the diversity of vampire factions, the ways to complete quests, and the great dialogue options throughout the game. The TV and...

I'll be polite but you're wrong (a Fallout 3 opinion topic)

Any chance this is all just a cruel, cruel joke and Troika is actually alive and well and hiding in a bunker on the west coast working on the ACTUAL Fallout 3 game under the code name Mystary? Wow, wouldn't that be something?

    Stupid fallout experiences...

I agree wholeheartedly with multiple saves often. Every game I play, I save every so often in a 10 slot rotation.

    Math

If you need to memorize them (just like you've done with your multiplication tables) I recommend notecards. If you put the fraction on the front and the answer on the back and you can quiz yourself randomly (either for a sustained period, or periodically through the day). Over time you should...

    Math

You'd be surprised at how many high school students don't know their multiplication tables and shudder at the sight of fractions due to their reliance on the magic box. Also, the OP appeared to request this level of mathematics. I simply gave my background before answering his post. I...

Terra Arcanum - Been there lately?

Thanks for the quick response Brother None. I've been working on my mod for over a month now and I'd hate to see the site go down for good when I'm getting ready to set it up for download.
